The Organic Way of the Body
“Now there were in Antioch, in the local church, prophets and teachers: Barnabas and Simeon, who was called Niger, and Lucius the Cyrenian, and Manaen, the foster brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. And as they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, Set apart for Me now Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them. Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.” (Acts 13:1-3)
In Acts 13:2 the Holy Spirit…told the five to set apart Barnabas and Saul for the work to which He had called them. This was a great step taken by the Lord for the spread of the gospel of His kingdom to the Gentile world. It was begun from Antioch, a Gentile center in Syria, without the organizing of a mission, without the raising of funds, without human ordination, and without any human plan or method. It was initiated by five faithful and seeking members of the Body of Christ, who gave the Head of the Body an opportunity through their ministering and fasting, that He, as the Spirit, might set two of them apart to carry out His great commission to spread His kingdom for the establishing of His church in the Gentile world through the preaching of His gospel.
This major step had nothing to do with the church in Jerusalem organizationally, and it was not under the authority and direction of Peter and the other eleven apostles in Jerusalem. It was begun solely and purely from a Gentile center, far away from the atmosphere and influence of any Judaic background and practice and even from the practice and influence of the church in Jerusalem. It was absolutely a move by the Spirit, in the Spirit, and with the Spirit through the coordination of the faithful and seeking members of the Body of Christ on earth with the Head in the heavens.
May we pray for all the saints to follow the pattern in Acts 13, not to take the way of human selection or organization, but to look to the Lord that he would produce something out from His Body. (Life-study of Acts, 2nd ed., msgs. 35-36, pp. 293-294, 300-301)
“Jesus Christ…the Ruler of the Kings of the Earth” (Rev. 1:5)
Today there are wars in various places and protests by large numbers of people in other places, plus many contentions among leaders of nations. We might not understand why these events occur and perhaps disagree with them, but as Colossians 3:2 instructs us, “Set your mind on the things which are above, not on the things which are on the earth.”
Let us hold onto Revelation 1:5 and ask the Lord to exercise His rule over every nation and situation to end this age and prepare the earth for His return.
The Truth Sets US Free
“Indeed days are coming, declares the Lord Jehovah, when I will send a hunger into the land, not a hunger for bread nor a thirst for water, but for hearing the words of Jehovah.” (Amos 8:11)
A new website, tsuf.us/participate, has been created specifically for the saints in the Lord’s recovery who are burdened to participate in preaching the gospel and spreading the high truths throughout the US. There will be many opportunities for the saints to rise up and proclaim God’s Word, personally and in small groups in their daily life as well as joining larger distribution events across the country. This site has videos about the burden for TSUF and announcements about future livestream fellowships. There is also information on how to order Bibles and books to give away, as well as TSUF apparel and other items.
In these days of widespread and intensified spiritual hunger, please pray for all the saints to gain a taste for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and help many people know Christ and be set free by the truth.
FTTA Gospel Trips
From January 2 to February 10, FTTA gospel trip teams are going out to 12 countries in Europe and North America to join with local saints for the preaching of the gospel of the kingdom. Please pray:
- For the Lord to cover all the gospel trips and the saints’ travel, especially in light of severe winter weather in some parts of the United States.
- That the sanctifying Spirit will go before the saints to prepare the hearts of those the Lord has chosen.
- For many contacts to be released to attend follow-up appointments, welcome dinners, Bible seminars, and gospel meetings with the saints.
For regular reports and updated prayer lists, go to ftta.org/gospeltrips.
Italy – Gospel Trips
Torch Relay gospel trips have just wrapped up in Vicenza and Turin. The next cycle, which will be the final TR trip before the Olympic Games begin, will be January 30 to February 9 in Milan.
Please pray that the Lord would operate through all the tracts and literature distributed during the past week to turn the hearts of many local Italians. May the Lord continue to prepare the hearts of many seeking people to receive Christ in His word and be added to the Lord’s testimony in Europe.
Saints in LA may give through the Church in Los Angeles designated for “Italy Olympics.”
France – Lille
Last weekend, January 24 to 25, a new lampstand was raised up in Lille. Praise the Lord! Over 200 saints from 15 different countries attended in person. Please continue to pray:
- For a clear and strong beginning for the church in Lille, that the Lord’s testimony would be firmly established there.
- For the consecration of the saints who will be standing in Lille, that Christ may be all and in all.
- For more blending with visiting saints, that Lille would remain in fellowship with all the churches.
- That the Lord would continue to build up His testimony in Lille and in other cities in France.
UK Building Project
Construction of the new Meeting and Training Facility, with a potential seating capacity of 900, resumed in March last year. Around 40% of the total funds needed to complete the construction have been received, with estimates that an additional £7.5 million is needed to complete the entire project (expected to be ready 2028).
Please continue to pray that the Lord will provide the necessary funds and serving ones to carry out the construction to completion.
Saints who are burdened to give can designate offerings “UK Building Project.”
