Being Headed Up in Christ

"Unto the economy of the fullness of the times, to head up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens and the things on the earth, in Him." (Eph. 1:10)

"But holding to truth in love, we may grow up into Him in all things, who is the Head, Christ." (Eph. 4:15)

The church is the heading up of God's chosen ones under the headship of Christ. In the proper church life we are being headed up in Christ. If we do not know what it is to be headed up in Christ, we cannot know the church. In the church life, we are taking the lead to be headed up in Christ. For this, we need to grow in life.

The first step in the heading up of all things in Christ is for God to bring His chosen ones, His sons, out of the universal collapse and to place them under the headship of Christ. When the church takes the lead to be headed up in Christ, God has a way to head up all other things. The church is the vessel used by God to solve His problems and to fulfill His purpose, which is to manifest Himself through man by mingling Himself with man. Eventually, the Body with Christ as the Head will be the universal Head over all things. (The Genuine Church Life, msg. 2, IV.B-D)

Los Angeles

Let us continue to pray for the Lord to increase in the church in Los Angeles for the sake of His testimony. In April 2017, our average Lord's Day attendance was 621. Our current goal is to reach 700 in the first half of 2018. Through a gospel living, one-on-one shepherding, prevailing prayers in twos and threes, and nourishing and perfecting in small groups, may the Lord add together, day by day, those who are being saved (Acts 2:47).

Italy

The Italian general election is due to be held on March 4. Lord, You are "the Ruler of the kings of the earth" (Rev. 1:5). We agree with Your sovereignty over the earth for these elections and we ask You to have Your way for Your move in Europe!

Germany

Please continue to pray:

  • That many seeking ones who received a free Bible will be shepherded into the church life
  • For the raising up of lampstands in many cities that were visited after the fall ITERO
  • That the Lord will send experienced brothers who can provide leadership to the work in Germany
  • That more young saints from outside Germany will gain admission to German universities
  • That those who are emigrating to Germany will find housing and jobs and obtain visas
  • For the learning of the German language by the saints who have emigrated
  • For the increase, strengthening, and building up of all the existing churches in Germany

UK Building Project

The present burden is to expand Woodland Camp into a one-week training and weekend retreat facility with capacity to accommodate and train 200 saints per week. The estimated cost is approximately $2.5 million. Please pray that these funds can be available in a timely way through the giving of the saints and the churches so that the construction can be completed by the end of 2018.

For information regarding the urgent need to construct training facilities in London and how to make online donations, click on the link 'UK Building Project' at https://amanatrust.org.uk. Alternatively, you may give to the church here, designated for UK Building Fund.

The Genuine Church Life

"I have come that they may have life and may have it abundantly." (John 10:10b)

"The last Adam became a life-giving Spirit." (1 Cor. 15:45b)

If we do not have Christ as life, we do not have the church life. The church life is simply Christ as life realized by us in a corporate way. (The Genuine Church Life, msg. 1, IV.B.)

In the real church life the service to the Lord is rendered, the testimony of the Lord is seen, and the love toward the Lord is poured out; this is the real expression of the Body of the Lord, which is a vessel to contain the Lord and to express Him. (The Genuine Church Life, Banner 1)

International Chinese-Speaking Conference

The general subject of this past weekend's ICSC was "The Goal of the Lord's Recovery—To Bring Forth the One New Man." Over 30,000 saints from 62 countries attended this conference, including 25 from Los Angeles. Before the conference, 1700 international saints participated in blending trips among the churches in Taiwan. Another 3000 saints are on similar trips this week.

Please pray that:

  • The Lord would show us all this vision of the one new man and grant us a living that would carry out its practical existence to bring Him back.
  • These blending trips would issue in more seeing and experiencing of the reality of the one new man.

Memorial Day Conference

The 2018 International Memorial Day Conference will be May 25 to 28 in Kansas City, Missouri. Conference and hotel information is at https://churchinlosangeles.org/prayer. Saints from LA who plan to attend are requested to RSVP at http://tinyurl.com/memdayla (adults) and http://tinyurl.com/memchildrenla (children) by April 29.

Please pray that the Lord will take more crucial steps in the advancement of His purpose during this gathering. Also pray that many be released and empowered to attend.

Los Angeles Hall 2

This weekend, February 24 to 25, the saints meeting in Hall 2 of the church in Los Angeles (San Fernando Valley) will be going to Oak Glen for a family retreat. Almost 150 saints are expected to attend. The burden of the time is to blend the saints together and seek the Lord corporately for a new beginning to our church life this year. Please pray that all the saints would be encouraged and blended together, and that they would freshly consecrate themselves to the Lord and to more church life in 2018.

FTTA

The spring term begins this week on February 19. Lord, richly infuse Yourself into each trainee, in their classes and studying, in corporate living, in gospel teams, in service, and in blending with the churches!

Europe

Please pray:

  • For the radio broadcasts in the UK and Spain and the continuing distribution of the New Testament Recovery Version and other free ministry publications in all the European languages.
  • For the shepherding of the seeking ones and their entering into the church life.

Being Saturated, Filled, and Permeated with Christ

"And have put on the new man, which is being renewed unto full knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there cannot be Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free man, but Christ is all and in all." (Col. 3:10-11)

In the new man Christ is all. In the church as the new man, Christ is everything. This implies that He is every brother and every sister. This also implies that every brother and sister must be constituted of Christ. In the new man there cannot be Jewish members and Gentile members; there can only be Christ-members. If we would be constituted of Christ, Christ must be added into us more and more. We must be permeated with Christ, saturated with Christ, and have Christ organically wrought into our being. Eventually, we shall be replaced by Christ. Then, in reality, He will be all and in all. He will be every member, every part, of the new man.

The new man does not come into existence by taking Christians from various countries and bringing them together. That would be a new organization, not the new man. The new man comes into being as we are saturated, filled, and permeated with Christ and replaced by Him through an organic process. The new man is Christ in all the saints permeating us and replacing us until all natural distinctions have been eliminated and everyone is constituted of Christ. (Life-study of Colossians, pp. 454-455)

International Chinese-Speaking Conference

The 2018 ICSC will take place this weekend, February 16 to 18, in Taipei. Up to 30,000 saints are expected to attend from all over the world, including about 25 saints from Los Angeles.

May the Lord take crucial steps in the advancement of His purpose during this gathering. May this conference and related church visitation trips issue in more of our being saturated, filled, and permeated with Christ, and our being replaced by Christ, to bring forth the new man.

Germany

Please pray:

  • For the gaining of the young German working professionals, including those initially contacted during the Bible distributions in October.
  • That the Lord would release some homes for the migrants' families as shepherds' tents in the different areas of Germany where they are living. Pray that they would be built up together and care for one another with cherishing and nourishing.
  • For two or three homes to be open for the church life in many cities for raising up the church life.
  • For the increase, strengthening, and building up of all the existing churches in Germany.

Announcements

The Bountiful Supply of the Spirit in the Body

"Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell in unity! It is like the fine oil upon the head that ran down upon the beard, upon Aaron's beard, that ran down upon the hem of his garments." (Psa. 133:1-2)

"For I know that for me this will turn out to salvation through your petition and the bountiful supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ." (Phil. 1:19)

[In Philippians 1:19] the phrase your petition indicates the supply of the Body. Apparently Paul was in prison; actually he was in the Body. Imprisonment did not isolate him from the Body or cut him off from the supply of the Body. Paul had the clear sense within that he was in the Body and that the members of the Body were supplying him, supporting him, and standing with him.

In 1:19 Paul speaks first of the saints' petition, then of the bountiful supply of the Spirit… The reason Paul speaks of the supply of the Body before the bountiful supply of the Spirit is that the Spirit is upon the Body. Psalm 133 illustrates this: the ointment poured upon Aaron's head flowed down tot he body. This portrays the fact that the ointment, the bountiful supply of the compound Spirit, is upon the Body. Paul realized that he was not the whole Body but just a member of the Body. As a member, he needed the Body's supply. If the Body would be exercised to supply him, the bountiful supply of the Spirit would come to him through the Body. (LS Philippians, msg. 33)

Los Angeles

Here in Los Angeles we have many halls, districts, ages, and languages, but we recognize that the Lord desires one lampstand as the testimony of Jesus in this city! As we look to the Lord for a new beginning in 2018, let us pray for more blending, resulting in the oneness that will command the Lord's blessing (Psa. 133).

Let us also continue to pray for the Lord to increase in the church in Los Angeles for the sake of His testimony. In April 2016, we averaged a total of 542 saints in our Lord's Day meetings and prayed that He would increase our numbers to more than 620. By April 2017, our average attendance climbed to 621, an increase of almost 15%. We then set another goal of reaching an average Lord's Day attendance of 700 in the first half of 2018. Through a gospel living, one-on-one shepherding, prevailing prayers in twos and threes, and nourishing and perfecting in small groups, may the Lord add together, day by day, those who are being saved (Acts 2:47).

FTTA Gospel Trips

Most of the gospel trips in North American cities are continuing through this week. Please pray:

  • that the saints would continue to be strengthened, encouraged, and burdened to be involved in the gospel outreach;
  • for the blending and building up of the gospel team with the local saints;
  • for the new students contacted to attend the Bible studies, get connected with local saints, and become remaining fruit in the church life;
  • for the college seniors, that they would be led by the Lord in the next step after graduation, and would consecrate themselves afresh to the Lord;
  • that the Lord would guide the serving ones after the trainees leave so they can help the college students continue onto higher ground with the Lord.

FTT London

Twenty-nine trainees from 16 countries began the spring semester of FTTL on February 5. Please pray for the Lord's constituting and perfecting work in each trainee so that all will be gained by the Lord to pursue Him, live Him, and serve Him in His move in Europe.

FTT Pretoria

The new term of the FTTP began on February 5 in Pretoria, South Africa with 11 trainees, two of whom are first-termers. One trainee is from Angola; the rest are local. Please pray:

  • for the Lord to release more young people to be trained.
  • that the Lord will continue to advance in the training and taking it higher.
  • that the trainees would be able to get onto the campus during gospel time to meet students and preach the gospel.
  • that the Lord would release the visas for trainees from other African countries to come to the training. It is very difficult to obtain visas.

The Recovery of the Corporate Expression of Christ

"...the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins that He might rescue us out of the present evil age according to the will of our God and Father." (Gal. 1:3b-4) We have been rescued out of the present evil age, and need to experience more rescuing so that our church life can be uplifted.

"We who are many are one Body in Christ, and individually members one of another." (Rom. 12:5) "Christ our life." (Col. 3:4) The church life is the corporate expression of Christ. The church life must be filled with the aroma and flavor of Christ and with the character of God; such a living is the living of the Triune God through our humanity. (The Recovery of the Church, msg 5, VII., VII.C)

For centuries the Lord has been longing for such a church life. We pray that before long this kind of church life will be fully practiced among us in the Lord's recovery. May the Lord be satisfied by seeing such an expression of Himself through the recovery of the genuine church life throughout the earth. (VII.D)

FTTA Gospel Trips

Four gospel trips concluded last weekend. The other 47 trips are continuing through this week and most through next week also. Please pray for:

  • the saints to enter into practice of the vital groups and to care for the newly contacted and returning students;
  • the capacity of the saints to be increased to meet the need of shepherding all the new ones;
  • the recipients of BFA materials to enjoy the riches of the ministry;
  • the new students to continue coming to the Bible studies and to become remaining fruit.

Germany

Please continue to pray:

  • that more young saints from outside Germany will gain admission to German universities;
  • for the learning of the German language by the saints who have emigrated;
  • for the increase, strengthening, and building up of all the existing churches in Germany;
  • for the raising up of lampstands in many cities that have been visited since October.

Thessaloniki, Greece

As a result of the blending tours and regional conference held in the Balkans after the ITERO in October 2017, the Lord has gained a desire for further blending among the saints in the Balkans. We are planning another regional conference in the fall.

In Thessaloniki we are appreciating the Lord's steady increase. We are having conversations with several of our Rhema literature readers. Please pray that:

  • the contacts we are now meeting with, and many Greeks in general, would be granted a spirit of wisdom and revelation to see God's economy and come fully out of the system of Greek Orthodoxy;
  • the application of a serving couple for a new three-year residence permit will be approved and released shortly.

Valletta, Malta

"And having been brought safely through, we recognized then that the island was called Malta. And the natives showed us uncommon kindness..." (Acts 28:1-2a)

A small number of saints are meeting in Valletta, the capital of Malta, a European island country in the Mediterranean Sea between Italy and Africa. Please pray that the Lord will release some experienced ones to shepherd these saints and that He will gain a strong testimony in this country.

Overcoming Degradation by Living Christ

"For the love of Christ constrains us because we have judged this, that One died for all, therefore all died; and He died for all that those who live may no longer live to themselves but to Him who died for them and has been raised." (2 Cor. 5:14-15)

In order to overcome the principle of Babylon, we need to daily take Christ as our burnt offering, which typifies Christ in His living a life that is perfect and absolutely for God and for God's satisfaction and in His being the life that enables God's people to have such a living. When we lay our hands on Christ through prayer, the life-giving Spirit will immediately move and work within us to live a life that is a repetition of the life that Christ lived on earth, the life of the burnt offering. (The Recovery of the Church, msg. 3, VI., VI.B)

A New Beginning in Los Angeles

We continue to pray for a new beginning this year. This new beginning will not be sudden (miraculous) but gradual (of life). We pray that each one of us will experience the Lord in new ways by forgetting what is behind and stretching forward to purse Christ in spirit. Lord, call us upward this year!

FTTA Gospel Trips

The gospel trips are 15 to 18 days duration. Five trips began two weeks ago, four began last week, and 42 begin later this week. A total of 253 trainees are on these 51 teams. Most teams will go to multiple cities. Reports are posted multiple times per week at http://beseeching.org. Please pray for:

  • the Spirit to brood over the 120 cities in North America to prepare many hearts for the gospel of the kingdom;
  • the Lord to reap a harvest across all of the campuses in North America;
  • the coordination and blending of the trainees with local saints;
  • the health of all the trainees and the safe travel of the trainees to their gospel trip destinations.

FTTA Boston

The Spring 2018 term of FTTA-XB begins on January 22. There are 7 incoming trainees with a total of 33 trainees this term.

Lyon, France

The church life began in 2003 with a small group of students. Families moved to Lyon beginning in 2005 to strengthen the church life. Currently there are about 40 saints participating regularly, of which 40% are college students. Meetings are in saints' homes and a restaurant owned by saints. Beginning in September 2016, we felt the need to purchase a meeting hall so we could be enlarged. At the end of December 2017 we found a small office property (1,200 square feet) which meets our needs. Our offer was accepted by the owner and we expect to close escrow by the end of February. We will continue to pray that the Lord will enlarge our capacity to receive His grace

A six minute video of their church life is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9McEIBf3pn8/.

India

Pray for the coming propagation in India by college students from Taiwan, January 29 to February 7, that the Lord may make them fruitful branches abiding in the True Vine.

Seeing God's Eternal Purpose and Enlightening All

Grace is given "to announce to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ as the gospel and to enlighten all that they may see what the economy of the mystery is, which throughout the ages has been hidden in God, who created all things…according to the eternal purpose which He made in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Eph. 3:8-11)

Paul preached not only the gospel of the unsearchable riches of Christ; he also preached the gospel concerning the economy of the mystery hidden in God. Today we must announce the gospel concerning the mystery hidden in God in order to enlighten all so that they may see what is the economy of the mystery hidden in God, who created all things for the fulfillment of His will, the desire of His heart, and His eternal purpose. (The Recovery of the Church, msg 1, II.H, II.H.2)

Lord, grace us to see Your eternal purpose, to lay hold of Your unsearchable riches, and to gospelize so that many more in Los Angeles may be enlightened to see God's economy.

Venice High School

Friday, January 12, the Venice High School Bible Reading Club had a table at the school's club fair. Many fliers were handed out, and 14 names with contact information were received at our table. Praise the Lord! Please pray for:

  • the Lord to strengthen and supply the young people to followup with each contact;
  • the contacts to be open to come to the Monday meetings, and for many to be remaining fruit;
  • the Lord to be the young people's wisdom in deciding which material to read for this semester.

A New Beginning

"I pursue....Brothers, I do not account of myself to have laid hold; but one thing I do: Forgetting the things which are behind and stretching forward to the things which are before, I pursue toward the goal for the prize to which God in Christ Jesus has called me upward." (Phil. 3:12-14) At the time Paul wrote this, he was ahead of us in Christian growth, yet he still pursued, he still stretched forward.

The church life in Los Angeles began in 1962. We have been faithful to maintain the church life through 56 years, but we are not here to merely maintain the church life. We seek a new beginning in 2018, an upward advance to greater joy, to more spontaneous churching beyond scheduled meetings, to spread a brightly shining testimony throughout this vast city, and to increase in number with a variety of people of all ages.

A new beginning requires that we give ourselves and pursue, forgetting the things behind (not even lingering in past experiences of Christ - Phil. 3:13, note 2) and stretching forward to the things ahead of us. May we experience and gain the Christ who is so wonderful and surpassingly rich that He causes us to count everything else as trash! (Phil. 3:8) Let us all pray for this new beginning.

Lord, "Draw me; we will run after You." (Song of Songs 1:4a)

Experiencing Christ in His Experiences to Become the Reproduction, Duplication, and Enlargement of Christ

"For to me, to live is Christ" (Phil. 1:21). Lord, grant us more beholding of You, more appreciating, taking, and eating of Yourself, more digesting, enjoying, and applying of Yourself, so that we may experience You in Your experiences to be constituted with You. Raise us up to be Your reproduction, duplication, enlargement, and expression in Los Angeles!

Christ is our New Year

"The body [the substance, the reality which casts the shadow] is of Christ" (Col. 2:17). Christ is the reality of all positive things in the universe, including our new month and our new year. These outward beginnings remind us that there is always a new portion of Christ for us to see and to gain. Lord, lead us into fresh experiences of Yourself this month and this year.

Spanish-Speaking and Young People's Conferences

UK Building Project

Besides the FTT in London, there are also one-week trainings open to all in the recovery in Europe. The present facilities limit attendance to 200 saints per year. At the winter training we saw a 4-1/2 minute video about Woodland Camp; see http://www.amanatrust.org.uk/reports The full development will support attendance of 200 per week. The goal in 2018 is to build a new Pavilion with multiple meeting places, dining facility, offices, and a book shop. The financial need is about $2.5 million.

Pray for the Lord to grace many saints locally and around the world to participate. Offerings may be given to the church in LA, designated UK Building Fund or by other means described at http://www.lordsmove.org/ukbuildingfund/.

Lord's Move in Asia

This month's newsletter has reports from the young people's training and the national blending conference in Nepal. There is also a report about 27 young saints from Taiwan on a gospel trip to Cambodia, emphasizing their fellowship and coordination with the local saints.

Winter Training

The winter training takes place this week in Anaheim. The subject is the Crystallization-study of Leviticus, based on the first seven chapters of this book. Please pray that the Lord would infuse all the saints with His up-to-date burden through the live training messages and the webcasts and video trainings in many localities, including Los Angeles. May the Lord advance in His recovery during this week!

Bibles for America

A 2017 overview is at http://biblesforamerica.org/2017/. Some totals for the year: 70,000 NTs and 105,000 books given out, 600,000 YouTube views, and 1.1 million web site visits.

Southern California College Students

For the Southern California college age there will be a "Fan into Flame" time to incite one another and pray for one another immediately following this Winter Training. This is for all of the core college students (not students new to church life). It will be Lord's Day, December 31, 6 to 9 pm at Hall 1 of the church in Irvine, 4252 Irvine Center Drive, Irvine, CA 92612. Bring $5 for dinner.

European Winter School of Truth (WST)

From December 26 to 31, the WST will take place simultaneously in the UK, Netherlands, and Spain. The subject will be "The Two Spirits." Please pray that through these times of concentrated care and infusion, the Lord will gain a group of young people in Europe who are constituted with the truth.
