Going On with the Lord

“Therefore leaving the word of the beginning of Christ, let us be brought on to maturity.” (Heb. 6:1a)

“In whom all the building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God in spirit.” (Eph. 2:21-22)

Within us there is a hunger and thirst for something higher in the church life than we have yet experienced. The dissatisfaction that we sense is really not ours but the Lord’s. The Lord within us is aspiring to go on from the tabernacle church life in the wilderness of the soul to the temple church life with Christ, the all-inclusive Spirit, as the reality of the good land in our spirit. (CWWL, 1979, vol. 1, “Life Messages, Volume 2,” p. 280-281; Crystallization-study of 1 & 2 Kings, msg. 6, I)

Just as the temple was the enlargement of the tabernacle, may the church gradually be strengthened and enlarged, and may the saints’ spiritual experiences also gradually be renewed and enlarged!

Life’s Washing in Love for the Church Life

“If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet… If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.” (John 13:14, 17)

Each of us must learn how to love the brothers and sisters by ministering the spiritual foot-washing to them… This is what we need. This is the real love that maintains the fellowship among us. It is by this kind of foot-washing and wiping that the spiritual fellowship can maintain the church life. Without it, the church life cannot be maintained, because the fellowship will have been damaged by the earthly touch. We need the spiritual foot-washing to cleanse us from the earthly touch and to keep our spiritual fellowship in a good condition. Then it is possible to realize the church life.

If the church life is to be kept fresh, new, pleasant, and living, we continually need this foot-washing. Every local church needs this… Every church needs to pray for this. Then the church will be preserved in newness and freshness. (Life-study of John, ch. 28, pp. 342-343)

United States

“I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings be made on behalf of all men; on behalf of kings and all who are in high position, that we may lead a quiet and tranquil life in all godliness and gravity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of our Savior God, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the full knowledge of the truth.” (1 Tim. 2:1-4)

The U.S. midterm elections conclude on Tuesday, November 8. All the seats in the House of Representatives are up for election, alongside one-third of the Senate; several major states, including California, also have elections for their governor and local officials, including the mayor of Los Angeles.

Pray to release on earth the authority of the “Ruler of the kings of the earth” (Rev. 1:5) for His choice of elected officials. We pray for the heavens to rule and for the outcome to advance God’s interests in our city and state, in this country, and over the whole earth.

Bibles for America

In April of this year, BfA began giving away free physical copies of Basic Elements of the Christian Life, vols.1-3. Since then, over 10,000 of these book sets have been sent out to people all over the country. Please pray that all those who receive these books would read them and would advance in their life with the Lord. Pray also that the volunteers who faithfully package these book sets would be strengthened and supplied to fulfill the constant stream of orders in a timely way.

Southern California College Conference

Thank you, saints, for your prayers for the first college conference, which took place at Oak Glen this past weekend. The Lord truly answered our prayers! We had 281 saints from Southern California in attendance. The singing was high and the Lord’s speaking was rich and fresh! From USC, 27 saints participated, including trainees, local saints, students and some recent college graduates. Everyone who signed up made it to the conference and enjoyed the Lord’s speaking.

Please pray that the Lord would cause all of those who attended to continue steadfastly in all that they saw and heard. Pray that they would enjoy the Lord’s appearing every day this week!

Germany – Stuttgart Meeting Hall

We thank the Lord that the purchase contract for the meeting hall in Stuttgart has been signed! The location is excellent: close to where many saints live and to the university, with easy access to public transport; next to the property is a public park with playgrounds and spacious green areas for picnics, recreation, and gospel outreach. Renovation will be extensive due to the age of the building.

Please continue to pray for the release of the finances needed for the acquisition and renovation of this meeting hall. Saints in LA who are burdened to contribute may give through the Church in Los Angeles designated for ‘Stuttgart Meeting Hall’.

Ukraine

Please continue to pray that:

  • The Russian and Ukrainian brothers fighting in the war will be preserved in their tripartite being.
  • The Lord will shepherd the refugees and establish them in the church life.
  • The local saints, serving ones, and trainees will be blended with the refugees by being through the cross and by the Spirit to minister Christ to one another for the building up of the Body.
  • The saints in Russia and Ukraine will be kept in the oneness of the Body and the reality of the new man.
  • The tripartite being of saints in besieged cities will be protected and preserved for the Lord’s interests.
  • The enemy will be bound in his attack on the Lord’s interests in Russia, Ukraine, and Europe.

As the Lord leads, saints may give through the Church in Los Angeles designated for ‘Ukraine’.

Sri Lanka

The official languages in Sri Lanka are Sinhala and Tamil, and English is widely used in formal contexts. For translation of the ministry, the serving ones mainly focus on Sinhala and obtain materials in Tamil from India. Since the Sinhala NT Recovery Version project began in May 2021, the team has completed all verses, footnotes, and outlines of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. The entire project is scheduled to finish in five years. At present, please pray for the printing of the Sinhala Recovery Version of the Gospel of Matthew and the translation of the Epistle of 1 Corinthians.
