Seeing the Spiritual Scene behind the World Situation

"And he said to me, Do not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand this matter..., your words were heard; and I have come because of your words." (Dan. 10:12)

"Epaphras, who is one of you, a slave of Christ Jesus, greets you, always struggling on your behalf in his prayers that you may stand mature and fully assured in all the will of God." (Col. 4:12)

The spiritual scene in Daniel 10 includes both good and evil spirits that are engaged in an invisible spiritual war. While Daniel was praying, a spiritual struggle was taking place in the air between two spirits, one belonging to Satan and the other belonging to God. It is crucial for us to see that behind the scene a spiritual struggle is taking place, a struggle not seen with human eyes. As the struggles are taking place between the human governments, God is behind the scene managing the world situation. (A Timely Word, msg. 2, II.B-C)

Pray that the saints would be empowered in the Lord and in the might of His strength to be able to stand in the battle against all the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenlies. (Beseeching.org, Day 34)

Pray that we will see a spiritual vision of the throne of God as the center of God's administration throughout the universe and see the ruling of the heavens by the God of the heavens over all human government on earth to match the eternal economy of God for Christ to do two great things: (1) to terminate the old creation for the germination of the new creation through His first coming, and (2) to smash and crush the aggregate of human government and establish the eternal kingdom of God in His second coming. (Beseeching.org, Day 4)

Oak Glen

The Apple Fire is currently burning near our conference center in Oak Glen. The property is now included in the mandatory evacuation zone and all of the saints living on the property have moved off the mountain. Initially, the wind caused the fire to burn away from the conference center, but changing winds over the weekend have caused the fire to progress slowly towards it. We ask that the churches would pray for the Lord to protect His interest at the conference center and that the fire would be kept away and be brought under control by the fire crews.

Bibles for America

Bibles for America has been collecting survey responses from those who order a Bible or download a ministry book. This will help us refine our marketing strategy and reach more young people between the ages of 18 and 24. We're also producing short gospel videos to post on social media that will hopefully capture the attention of young seekers.

Please pray for our new content and the fine-tuning of our marketing. Pray that more young seekers would find our blog posts, videos, podcast episodes, and, most importantly, would order a free copy of the NT Recovery Version.

Kyrgyzstan

Many saints in Kyrgyzstan, including most of the leading brothers, have contracted coronavirus infections. This has affected not only their health but also their ability to earn a living. Please pray that all their needs will be met and that the Lord will sustain the churches in that country, which are crucial to His testimony in Central Asia.

Prayer for the Current Situation

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States and around the globe, please pray:

  1. For the Lord to protect all His interests on earth, including the saints and the churches;
  2. For the saints and churches to be open to what the Lord will accomplish during this time;
  3. For the saints to persevere in prayer for the Lord's final move to end this age; and
  4. For the gospel of the kingdom to be proclaimed and the hearts of many men to be open to receive it.

Meeting Together – Our Need and God's Need

"Not abandoning our own assembling together… but exhorting one another; and so much the more as you see the day drawing near." (Heb. 10:25)

"But if all prophesy and some unbeliever or unlearned person enters, he is convicted by all, he is examined by all; the secrets of his heart become manifest; and so falling on his face, he will worship God, declaring that indeed God is among you." (1 Cor. 14:24-25)

When we come together, our intention may be to pray, to worship, to serve, to hear a message, to be taught, to be exhorted, to be strengthened, to be comforted, and to be encouraged. This is our understanding. Actually, with our meetings there are so many wonderful things underneath the surface. We gain a lot of benefits and profit that we do not realize by participating in the meetings.

To meet together is not a small thing…. Here we know the will of God, here we do the will of God, and eventually we will fulfill His purpose. (CWWL, 1982, vol. 1, "Experiencing Christ as the Offerings for the Church Meetings," pp. 488, 490-491)

Pray that the saints would be daily strengthened in their spirit by the exercise of their spirit in their daily living so that they can freely release their spirit in all kinds of meetings to minister life to one another, with the result that the saints would be mingled and blended together and the church would be built up (Eph. 3:16-19). (http://www.Beseeching.org, Day 28)

Labor in Coordination with God's Divine Labor

"No plant of the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprung up—for Jehovah God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to work the ground." (Gen. 2:5)

If you do nothing, God cannot do anything, for He needs human labor to cooperate with His divine labor. What is the use of the rain [the Spirit] coming down if there is no man to till the ground? If, as a man, you have tilled the ground, you have the right to pray, "Lord, I am here. Send the rain."

We must labor in coordination with God's divine labor. Day and night we must pray for our relatives and our friends. We must work on them. Then the rain will come. If we do not cooperate with God by tilling the ground, the rain will never come. God does not waste His rain. When it comes, it comes to produce life. (Life-Study of Genesis, ch. 10, sec. 4)

FTTA – Summer Interim Fellowship

This fellowship will be once a week with current and incoming trainees for both Anaheim and Boston. Though these times are not mandatory, we hope that the times of fellowship would be one of encouragement, nourishment, and a way to provide updates for the coming term for the trainees.

Please pray to bind opposition and to loose the complete mailing so that the tracts will reach all the households in a timely way and that many will receive the gospel and be added to the church.

  1. For the Lord to protect all His interests on earth, including the saints and the churches;
  2. For the saints and churches to be open to what the Lord will accomplish during this time;

Taking the Lord's Yoke upon Us to Find Rest for Our Souls

"Come to Me all who toil and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." (Matt. 11:28-30)

The Lord's yoke is the Father's will, and His burden is the work of carrying out the Father's will. Such a yoke is easy, not bitter, and such a burden is light, not heavy. If we take the Lord's yoke (the Father's will) upon us and learn from Him, we will find rest for our souls. The yoke of God's economy is like this; everything in God's economy is not a heavy burden but an enjoyment. (The Will of God, msg. 7, I.J,L)

North America College Training

The NACT Online continues this week and concludes with a webinar on Saturday, July 18. Please pray for the Lord to gain all the trainees for their participation in turning the age. Specifically pray that:

  1. the trainees would pray like Samuel's mother to echo the heart's desire of God.
  2. the trainees would offer themselves to be today's Nazarites—to be voluntarily sanctified and separated to God for His purpose by enjoying Christ as the unique Nazarite in their spirit.
  3. the trainees would respond to God's call to be His faithful priests—to open themselves to the Lord and let Him fill them, saturate them, and be one with them.
  4. the trainees would respond to God's call to be His prophets—to speak for God and speak forth God to dispense Him to others for the building up of the church.
  5. the trainees would respond to God's call to be men of prayer—to cooperate with God to pray for the accomplishment of His will on earth.
  6. the Lord would raise up many who would answer His demands and care for Him and His needs so that He may have a way to come in and turn this age of procedures into the age of His heart's desire.
  7. the Lord would gain a proper response from each trainee, and that His speaking to each trainee would continue to operate effectually in their lives in the days, months, and years after this training.

GTCA

In the midst of these turbulent times, a fresh burden has stirred in the hearts of the co-workers, leading brothers, and saints in the churches to gospelize, truthize, and churchize North America.

Our Brother Witness Lee considered not only the US as a whole, but, more specifically, Middle America to be most strategic for the Lord's interest. He hoped that a good number of saints would be led to migrate to many cities and states in America's heartland, to gain a solid increase for His testimony and bring in a great blessing.

Please pray that many families and full-timers will continue to respond to the call to go to the 10 GTCA cities this year to strengthen the Lord's testimony in Middle America. Please also pray that all the practical needs would be met for all of those who are in the process of migrating to these cities.

Midwest: Cincinnati, OH; Lexington, KY; Minneapolis, MN; St. Louis, MO
Southeast: Charlotte, NC; Columbia, SC; Memphis, TN; Orlando, FL
Mid-Atlantic: Pittsburgh, PA; Richmond, VA

Prayer for the Current Situation

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States and elsewhere, please pray 1) for the Lord to protect all His interests on earth, including the saints and the churches; 2) for the saints and churches to be open to what the Lord will accomplish in a new way during this time; 3) for the saints to persevere in prayer for the Lord's final move to end this age; and 4) for the gospel of the kingdom to be proclaimed and the hearts of many men to be open to receive it.

Chinese-Speaking Saints' Perfecting Training

The serving saints' training is Saturday and Lord's Day, July 18-19 and Saturday, July 25. The subject is "Living and Serving in the Oneness and the One Accord of the Body of Christ." The students' training is Monday to Friday, July 20 to 24. The subject is the same as the college training, "The Intrinsic Significance of Samuel—the Nazarite."

Please pray that saints will come with an exercised spirit to receive the word and that the Sprint will have an unhindered way to gain us and to prepare us as age turners to bring the Lord back.

Three meetings on July 18 and 25 will be open for all the saints, with English translation; visit http://bit.ly/2020CSPT_infopage_english for details.

Nordic-Baltic Conference

This year's Nordic-Baltic Conference will take place online from July 17 to 19. Drink from the Fountain of Living Waters

"For My people have committed two evils: they have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, to hew out for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns, which hold no water." (Jer. 2:13)

Jeremiah, a book full of speaking concerning Israel's sin and God's wrath, chastisement, and punishment, reveals that God's intention in His economy is to be the fountain, the source, of living waters to dispense Himself into His chosen people for their satisfaction and enjoyment. The goal of this enjoyment is to produce the church, God's counterpart, as God's increase, God's enlargement, to be God's fullness for His expression (John 3:29-30; Eph. 3:16-19, 21). This is the heart's desire, the good pleasure, of God in His economy (Eph. 1:5, 9; 3:9-11). (Jer. 2:13, footnote 1)

Semiannual Video Training – Jeremiah and Lamentations

Thank the Lord that the number from LA attending this training is much larger than previous trainings. Pray for the release and receiving of the word in the messages, fellowship times, and testing. Pray also for more blending of the halls in LA during these meetings, and for many additional saints to join the open meetings.

North America College Training

The North America College Training will take place online from July 10 to 18. The topic is "Samuel the Nazarite." We believe that in the midst of the upheaval in the world situation, the Lord will speak a special word to this generation of college students to be today's Nazarites, separated and consecrated unto the Lord, to meet His need. Please pray for all the outward arrangements and inward preparation.

Living a Life according to God's Heart and Will

"He then has said, 'Behold, I have come to do Your will.'" (Heb. 10:9)

"I exhort you therefore, brothers, through the compassions of God to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable service." (Rom. 12:1)

God's great will in His New Testament economy, God's good pleasure, the counsel of His will, and His purpose are to have a Body for the enlargement and expression of Christ, the embodiment of the processed Triune God.

For the church life, the life of the Body of Christ, to be realized, our entire being is needed; a presented body, a transformed soul, and a burning spirit are indispensable to a proper church life. We need to present our bodies as a living sacrifice for the church life. After presenting our body, we need to have our mind renewed. We must be burning in spirit that we may be stirred up and encouraged to go on in the church life in a positive way. (The Will of God, msg. 4, II, IV.B, B.1,2,3)

Please pray for all the saints to be in God's will and live a life in God's will by presenting their bodies, being renewed in their mind, and being burning in spirit.

"The Heavens Do Rule" (Dan. 4:26b)

"I, Nebuchadnezzar… blessed the Most High, and I praised and honored the ever-living One; for His dominion is an eternal dominion… He does according to His will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth." (Dan. 4:34-35)

The Lord is not only the Creator of the universe but also the Ruler of the entire world. There is the rule of the heavens on earth. Whatever happens in the world situation must be something of the Lord. When we see the many changes in today's world situation, we have to wake up. Our eyes need to be opened. We should exercise our spirit to say, "Lord, what do You mean in all these changes, and what concerns us in all these changes?" (The World Situation and the Direction of the Lord's Move, ch. 1)

Lord, show us what concerns us and what You are trying to do among us in our daily life, our contact with other saints, our gospelizing, and our meeting life.

Persevering in Prayer

We are happy to announce that http://beseeching.org is getting a major update to help the saints and churches in North America, especially those in the United States, to continue building up the prayer ministry of the church. It will be a completely new site to help the saints persevere in daily intercessory prayer, and continue on from the 60 days of global 24-hour prayer that ended in May. To that end, daily prayer burdens and hymns on prayer will be added to the website, along with corresponding verses.

Daily prayer burdens will be emailed to subscribers beginning June 15. The first 14 days will cover the recent Memorial Day conference on "A Timely Word concerning the World Situation and the Lord's Recovery." The prayer burdens from the previous version of the website will be located in the Pray tab under Special Burdens. You can also follow the Beseeching accounts on Facebook (beseeching.org) and Instagram (@beseeching.org_) to see the daily prayer burdens.

May all the saints in the Lord's recovery continue to persevere in prayer that He may gain His interests on the earth!

SSOT 2020

We are now in the second week of this year's Summer School of Truth, which is being carried out SoCal-wide via Zoom. Over 150 saints from LA are participating, including more than 80 young people. May the Lord use these three weeks from June 6 to 27 to encourage our YP and lead them to know the truth (John 8:32). Please continue to pray:

  • for the Lord to gain the hearts of the YP to pursue Him during these weeks;
  • for the serving ones to have a heart of love and wisdom to take care of the YP;
  • for the group times to be blessed with mutuality, openness, and building; and
  • for the Lord to blend the YP across LA and Southern California.

SoCal College Life Pursuit

The college students in Southern California are heading into the second two-week session of a summer program called Life Pursuit 2020. In this program, the students participate in online workshops to develop both a rich inner life with the Lord and meaningful relationships with others. Additionally, there is an option for students to join project teams, where they work on projects related to the Summer School of Truth or producing online content to reach unbelievers and seeking Christians on their campuses.

Please pray for our college students to:

  • present themselves for every workshop to hear the Lord's speaking;
  • develop their personal fellowship with the Lord and corporate enjoyment with companions;
  • be perfected and equipped to serve their generation.

North America College Training – registration extended

This summer, July 9 to 19, the North America College Training will take place online. Registration has been extended to June 28. The topic is "Samuel the Nazarite." Prayer with an Excellent Spirit

"...I, Daniel, understood by means of the Scriptures the number of the years, which came as the word of Jehovah to Jeremiah the prophet, for the completion of the desolations of Jerusalem, that is, seventy years. So I set my face toward the Lord God to seek Him in prayer and supplications with fasting and sackcloth and ashes." (Dan. 9:2-3)

"Your kingdom come; Your will be done, as in heaven, so also on earth." (Matt. 6:10)

God reveals His heart's desire through the Scriptures. To participate in His desire we come to the Scriptures, read them, understand with a spirit of wisdom and revelation, and join ourselves to the Scriptures with prayer. Daniel took God's desire for the 70-year captivity (Dan. 9) as his own desire and echoed God's desire by praying with the words of the Scriptures.

Daniel was a man with an excellent spirit. He prayed with much calling on the Lord, simple words, and for God's interests rather than for his own (v. 19). Daniel prayed only for the nation of Israel; today, we pray for every nation on earth. Besides his spirit, a key to Daniel's prayer was having companions (2:17).

Lord, raise us up in persistent prayer to be overcomers like Daniel. Keep us praying for Your interests, according to Your word, with an excellent spirit, and in close fellowship with companions.

Lord, Bless the United States for Your Purpose

Since God has a purpose to accomplish with mankind on earth, He surely has the sovereign authority to manage the situation in human history; as an example, for the spreading of His recovery and for the final stage of His recovery—the building up of the Body as the preparation of the bride—God has sovereignly prepared, preserved, and blessed the United States. (Memorial Day Conference, msg. 1, I.A)

Lord, we ask You to continue Your blessing on the United States for the sake of Your divine history! Use the current rioting to save many people and to draw believers to seek You fully. Bless all the churches and particularly the church in Minneapolis in their gospel endeavors, relieve the saints' anxieties, and strengthen the migrating saints to rise up and come to Minneapolis for the church life and campus team (one of ten target cities for this summer, http://gtca.us).

LA Gospel – Under the Lord's Sovereignty

"This [Jesus] God has exalted to His right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins." (Acts 5:31)

God exalted the man Jesus...as the highest Leader, the Prince, the Ruler of the kings to rule over the world (Rev. 1: 5; 19:16), and the Savior to save God's chosen people. Leader is related to His authority, and Savior to His salvation. He rules sovereignly over the earth with His authority that the environment might be fit for God's chosen people to receive His salvation. (from Acts 5:31, footnote 2)

Gospel Meeting in Korean

On Friday, May 29, over 170 people attended our online Korean-speaking gospel meeting entitled "Zaccheus, Hurry and Come Down" based on Luke 19:1-6. At least 33 guests were unbelievers or believers who do not meet regularly. After some songs and testimonies, a brother spoke about the Lord's coming to us with unconditional love when we were dissatisfied, remorseful, and lonely. Everyone was led to pray and invited to more meetings. Please pray for these 33 guests to receive the Lord and be connected with saints. Lord gain more "Zaccheuses" and lead them into the church life!

On Saturday, May 30, around 60 people attended our online Spanish-speaking gospel meeting entitled "Why Does Christ Need to Fill Us? An Answer from the Word of God." The atmosphere was sweet, intimate, and loving. Through the Lord's mercy and the saints' prayer the Spirit was able to operate and lead some guests to repentance unto salvation. Please pray for the saints to follow up and for the new ones to be open for more fellowship and gatherings that the Lord may continue to guide them onward unto full salvation.

Sixth Grade Baptisms

This past school year, through much shepherding from parents and serving ones, 11 of our 15 sixth graders in the church in LA made a firm decision to be baptized and to enter into God's kingdom. On May 30 a Zoom meeting was held for the church to baptize these young ones. In close coordination with the serving ones, the parents led their children to be baptized into the name of the Triune God. Over 200 saints, relatives, and friends witnessed this joyful occasion. Hallelujah! Please pray:

  • that the sixth graders would quickly be connected with saints to usher them into the church life;
  • for all the members of the household of God to rise up afresh and be poor in spirit to seek the Lord's leading in caring for these dear ones;
  • that the Lord would give all the parents the wisdom and grace to continue cultivating a conducive home environment for these sixth graders to grow before God and man;
  • for continued shepherding of the remaining 4 students to result in their personal choice to be baptized.
Thousand Oaks Gospel Meeting in Chinese

On Saturday, May 30, 70 to 80 people, including some from Asia, attended an online gospel meeting. At least 20 new people were present and many prayed to receive the Lord.

Choose Life!

"...I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse; therefore choose life that you and your seed may live, in loving Jehovah your God by listening to His voice and holding fast to Him; for He is your life and the length of your days..." (Deut. 30:19-20)

God uses two trees to speak to us in a parable. The tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil are a kind of parable. They show us that man has two different kinds of food and can live either by life or by the knowledge of good and evil, that is, the knowledge of right and wrong....Some Christians take the principle of right and wrong as the standard for their living, while other Christians take the principle of life as their standard for living. (Watchman Nee, Two Principles of Living, pp. 2-3)

May we be Christians who take the principle of life as our standard for living. May we be those who …discern and respond to matters (including the pandemic and related government actions) not according to right and wrong but according to life and death.

LA Gospel to All Nations

"I am debtor both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to wise and to foolish." (Rom. 1:14)

"If I preach the gospel, I have no boast, for necessity is laid upon me; for woe to me if I do not preach the gospel. If I do this of my own will, I have a reward; but if not of my own will, I am entrusted with a stewardship." (1 Cor. 9:16-17)

In recent weeks, the church held Chinese-speaking and English-speaking meetings to share the good news of Jesus Christ with our friends, relatives, and neighbors. Our Korean-speaking meeting will be May 29 and our Spanish-speaking meeting will be May 30 and sixth grade (below). Let us pray for:

  • much willingness to follow-up with those who attended the recent meetings and to nourish them;
  • abundant wisdom and grace to the saints preparing for the upcoming two meetings;
  • saints to rise up to pray for and invite their neighbors, friends, and family members; and
  • the Spirit to operate in the hearts of the invitees to release them to participate and to receive the Spirit's speaking in the meetings.

Campus Team Retreat

This week, from Monday to Thursday, campus full-timers from across the US and some other countries are meeting together for fellowship. Please pray that the Lord would:

  • blend all the workers together to do the one work on the campuses to build up His one Body;
  • guide them into His up-to-date direction during this unprecedented time; and
  • grant them the way to help the students rise up on each campus to take action for the Lord's move.

SoCal Sixth Grade Students

Now is a good time to be reminded that we do not rely only on the sixth grade conference for our children to be saved. We must rely on the Lord's timing, convicting, and calling of our children. This year, because the conference is canceled, it will depend, more than ever, upon the parents and vital groups in the churches to lead the 6th graders who are ready for salvation and to prepare them for their baptism.

A letter from SoCal Young People about our sixth graders is at https://churchinlosangeles.org/prayer. This letter discusses prayer, a definite and personal experience of salvation, baptism, and a good beginning of the Christian life. A 15-minute video for the parents and three simple gospel videos are at http://www.scyp.com/6th-grade.

A gospel time for LA sixth graders with their families and close friends will be May 6. Please pray for attendance by all, assurance to those who have already received the Lord, and a definite salvation for those who have not yet received the Lord.

Virtual European YP Conference

The conference subject is "Men Who Turn the Age." The first meeting is Saturday, May 16, 10:30 am to 12:30 pm California time. (Later dates are in the Announcements section below.) Lord, bless this conference with rich speaking, full participation, and a solid response by every young person!

Lord's Move to Asia

Pray that the Lord may have a way in the following countries, in which we are not conscious of anything of the recovery: Afghanistan, Iraq, Maldives, North Korea, Palestine, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Yemen.

Avoiding Division by Keeping the Oneness

"Being diligent to keep the oneness of the Spirit in the uniting bond of peace." (Eph. 4:3)

"That we may be no longer little children tossed by waves and carried about by every wind of teaching in the sleight of men…" (Eph. 4:14)

Divisions come out of different teachings, teachings other than God's economy....The different teachings of the dissenting ones are winds used by God's enemy to distract His people and carry them away from His economy. The dividing teachings are organized and systematized by Satan to cause serious error and thus damage the practical oneness of the Body life.

In the Lord's recovery we elevate Christ and Christ alone....In the church we enjoy Christ as the rich produce of the land. Our enjoyment of Christ in the presence of God becomes our worship, our church life, and even our Christian living, and we grow and mature on the ground of oneness. (Crystallization-study of Deuteronomy, msg. 10, II.D, D.4-5, III.E, E.3)

LA Gospel Meetings

"...Our Savior God, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the full knowledge of the truth." (1 Tim. 2:3-4)

We realize that the Lord sovereignly uses times of uncertainty, such as the current global pandemic, to open the hearts of many people whose lives have been disrupted. Now is the season when friends and families are most open to receive the gospel, and all saints are needed to seize this opportunity to share the gospel. This the Lord's greatest commission to the church.

Ask the Lord to give us a heart for the salvation of our of friends and relatives. The delight of our heart needs to be the salvation of men because this is the delight of God's heart. May we as the church truly be the testimony of Jesus among humanity in our city.

Last Friday, April 24, over 200 people attended our online Chinese-speaking gospel meeting on "Death and Life." There were at least 22 gospel friends and dormant saints. After the testimonies and message, a brother led everyone to sing, "Death cannot hold the resurrection life" (Hymns, #639). Hearts were touched and spirits were stirred up. When everyone was asked to call on the Lord's name loudly, many also responded by typing in the chat thread, "I will accept the Lord!" and "I am saved now!" Please continue to pray fervently for the new ones not only to be saved but also to be baptized and become remaining fruits.

This Saturday, May 2, from 4 to 5 pm, we will hold an online English-speaking church-wide gospel meeting. Everyone is encouraged to invite 1 or 2 "relatives and intimate friends" (Acts 10:24) as well as attend themselves. The topic, "A New Normal: Some Good News from God's Word," will be relevant to those who are curious about the Christian faith, new to the church, or looking to rekindle their relationship with God; this includes not only unbelievers, but also other believers and dormant ones who do not currently meet with us or do not meet regularly.

In order for the gospel to reach man, we need to cooperate with God by praying to bind Satan and loose the sinners. Pray by yourself, with your companions and small groups, and with the church. To facilitate prayer across the whole church, we are having a daily Zoom prayer time every day this week, Monday through Saturday from 12-12:30 pm. To guide us in our prayer, daily prayer burdens for this week have been posted at https://churchinlosangeles.org/gospel.

SoCal College Conference Follow-up

Thank you for your prayers! The Spring College Conference was well attended this year, both from our area and around the world. The general subject was "Doing the Will of God." Overflow in SoCal took place online in smaller clusters. Please continue to pray that our students would be those who do the will of God habitually and continually, come to the Lord as the One who does the Father's will, and live a meeting life to do the will of God. Pray also for our follow-up with LA students who signed up but are not regular among us.

Unceasingly Pray – Persevering in Prayer

"Rejoice in hope; endure in tribulation; persevere in prayer." (Rom. 12:12)

"Persevere in prayer, watching in it with thanksgiving." (Col. 4:2)

Unceasingly Pray, in its current format, will end this Thursday, April 30. That does not mean that we should relax our praying. Let us continue praying at set times alone and with companions. Reviewing the 30 days' burdens at http://unceasinglypray.org is one good way to guide our prayer to focus on the Lord's interests. This website, under the heading Ministry, lists many publications; reading one of these is also a help for our prayer.

Proper prayer is "with thanksgiving" as in Philippians 4:6, Colossians 4:2, and 1 Timothy 2:1.

Know That Man Lives by the Word of Jehovah

"Jehovah your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness in order to humble you…let you go hungry and fed you the manna…so that He might make you know that man lives not by bread alone, but that man lives by everything that proceeds out from the mouth of Jehovah." (Deut. 8:2-3)

God has allowed the whole earth to be in the wilderness. Lord,

  • cause the hunger of these days to lead many to open to Your word, to learn to eat it, and to live by it;
  • make us active in this through gospel tracts and speaking the gospel;
  • bless the use of free NTs that are in many homes in many nations.

Berlin, Germany

Please pray for the mailing of a new gospel tract to 854,000 households in Berlin. The mailing begins this week. Pray that the Lord will use this tract to give all the people in Berlin an opportunity to hear the gospel, to save many people in Berlin, and to gain many for the organic building up of the church.

Maintaining the Ground of Oneness in Spirit

"But to the place which Jehovah your God will choose out of all your tribes to put His name, to His habitation, shall you seek, and there shall you go." (Deut. 12:5)

"For also in one Spirit we were all baptized into one Body… and were all given to drink one Spirit." (1 Cor. 12:13)

"In whom you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God in spirit." (Eph. 2:22)

The fulfillment of the type in Deuteronomy 12 is not a matter of a geographical place but a matter of our spirit. In the New Testament God's habitation, His dwelling place, is particularly located in our mingled spirit, our human spirit regenerated and indwelt by the divine Spirit. In our meeting for the worship of God, we must exercise our spirit and do everything in our spirit.

Wherever we may be, we should be gathered into the Lord's name, in our spirit, and with the cross. If we all do this, we all will meet in the same place, although we meet in different localities; this one place is the ground of the unique oneness.

In order to be today's overcomers, we must maintain the ground of oneness, God's unique choice, without elevating anything other than Christ. In the Lord's recovery we elevate Christ and Christ alone. The way to be restored from desolation is to exalt Christ; the enjoyment of Christ with God on the ground of oneness can be maintained and preserved only when Christ is properly appreciated and exalted by God's people. (Crystallization-Study of Deuteronomy, msg. 9, I.D.2.b, I.C.3, I.D, V, C)

Unceasingly Pray Extended: 30 Days of Global Prayer

"Rejoice in hope; endure in tribulation; persevere in prayer." (Rom. 12:12)

"Persevere in prayer, watching in it with thanksgiving." (Col. 4:2)

"Always rejoice, unceasingly pray, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (1 Thes. 5:16-18)

We worship the Lord that He has stirred up so many of you to participate in the present burden for prayer. Never before have so many across the entire globe joined together in one accord to pray as one man in such a sustained way.

Our hope is that this month of prayer will not simply be a passing event but will greatly strengthen our personal prayer life and the corporate prayer ministry of the church. Prayer is our greatest work before God, and it is also the greatest threat to God's enemy…. Consistency and persistence in the face of obstacles are crucial to building up a prayer life and prayer ministry.

Today the Lord is seeking prayers of dispensational value, prayers that match God's heart; prayers for the advancement of God's move, the preparation of the bride, the producing of the overcomers, the defeat of God's enemy; prayers that change the age. The prayers of the saints and of the church are a significant factor in effecting the dispensational change from the present age to the kingdom age (Luke 18:1-8; Rev. 6:9-10; 8:3-5). (Excerpted from the April 16 co-workers' letter)

Brothers and sisters, there is still time to participate! The original 21 Days of Prayer has been extended through April 30. Sign-up and prayer burdens are at http://unceasinglypray.org.

Having a Heart for the Salvation of Sinners

"I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings be made on behalf of all men…. our Savior God desires all men to be saved and to come to the full knowledge of the truth." (1 Tim. 2:1, 3b-4)

We need to pray to have a real burden for the sinners' salvation. In 1 Timothy 2 Paul exhorts us to pray on behalf of all men because our Savior God desires all men to be saved. God's desire requires our prayer for it to be carried out. In Romans 10:1 Paul says concerning the Jews, "The good pleasure of my heart and my petition to God for them is for their salvation." Like Paul, the delight of our heart needs to be the salvation of men because this is the delight of God's heart (Luke 15:6-7, 9-10, 23-24). We need to pray to the Lord that His concern for sinners' salvation would be dispensed into us to become our burden. (WL, The Scriptural Way to Meet and to Serve for the Building Up of the Body of Christ, ch. 23)

LA Gospel Meeting in Chinese – April 24

On Friday, April 24, starting at 7:30 pm, we will have an online Chinese-speaking gospel meeting. All the saints are encouraged to pray for their contacts and acquaintances who understand Chinese and invite them to this gathering. The topic will be "Death and Life." Please pray for a clear release of the Lord's word and a good reception of this word unto salvation. Two ways to join are https://ucla.zoom.us/j/8397042086 or dial in: (669) 900-6833, Meeting ID: 839 704 2086.

LA Gospel Meeting in English – May 2

On Saturday, May 2, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm, we will have an English-language gospel meeting. This meeting is especially geared toward those who are curious about the Christian faith, new to the church, or looking to rekindle their relationship with God. This includes not only unbelievers, but also other believers and dormant ones who do not currently meet with us or do not meet regularly. All the saints are encouraged to pray fervently for this time and consider at least 1 or 2 people to invite. May the white horse run in a prevailing way! May the Lord gain a bright and shining testimony of Himself in LA!

Southern California College Conference

This weekend's college conference will be held online on April 23, 25 and 26 from 7:30 to 9:00 pm. The general subject is "Doing the Will of God." Please pray for the preparations leading up to the conference, both of the practical arrangements outwardly and the students' hearts inwardly. In addition to college-age saints, high school juniors and especially seniors are warmly invited. Pray that the Word would reach all the participants and encourage them during this time.

Memorial Day Conference

The Memorial Day conference will be LSM's first global online ministry conference. It is a great opportunity for many, many more saints to participate. The conference will consist of six messages from Friday night, May 22 to Monday morning, May 25. Details are in a letter at https://churchinlosangeles.org/members/prayer. Please pray for the brothers preparing the messages and for the serving saints planning the technical details of this conference.

Prayer, Week of April 5

[View as PDF]

Praying for God's Will to Be Done on Earth

"Therefore we...do not cease praying and asking on your behalf that you may be filled with the full knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding." (Col. 1:9)

"Thus says Jehovah,…concerning the work of My hands, command Me." (Isa. 45:11)

"Your kingdom come; Your will be done, as in heaven, so also on earth." (Matt. 6:10)

After we know God's will, we can say to Him, "God, we want You to do this. We are determined that You should do this. God, You must do this." We can utter such strong and powerful prayers before God. We have to ask God to open our eyes to see the kind of work He is doing in this age. In this age all His work is based on this position. Heaven may want to accomplish something, but heaven will not do it alone; heaven waits for the earth to do it first, and then heaven does it.…The earth must move before heaven will move. God wants the earth to move heaven. (WN, The Prayer Ministry of the Church, ch. 1)

Unceasingly Pray: 21 Days of Global Prayer

In light of the current global pandemic, the co-workers in the Lord's recovery feel that now is the time to call on the saints in every place to pray in one accord as the one new man for the Lord's interests on the earth. (21 Days of Prayer, Letter of Introduction, https://churchinlosangeles.org/prayer)

Too often we think of prayer as something we do only when we are aware of a particular spiritual or practical need or when we want to accomplish something for the Lord in a way of service, whether personally, with others, or as the church. Prayer for these things is legitimate and even necessary, but the highest and deepest prayers in the New Testament are, first and foremost, for God's work in the saints and for His move on the earth (Phil. 1:9-11; Eph. 1:15-23; 3:14-21; Acts 4:24-31; Eph. 6:18-20; Col. 4:2-4). Intercessory prayer is a matter of co-laboring with Christ in His heavenly ministry. Such prayer is the pinnacle of the church's service to Christ. He as the heavenly Intercessor needs His people on the earth to echo His desire. ("A Call for Global Prayer," http://unceasinglypray.org/letter)

Many matters require the church's prayer. Here is a summary of items mentioned this past week:

  1. For the Father's name to be sanctified, His kingdom to come; and His will to be done on the earth (Matt. 6:9-10).
  2. For God's good pleasure to be fulfilled, His purpose to be accomplished, and His economy to be carried out (Eph. 1:9-10).
  3. For God in Christ to rule over all world affairs (Dan. 4:17; Rev. 1:5), to turn the hearts of kings to do His will (Prov. 21:1), and to raise up and put down leaders as He sees fit (Dan. 2:21).
  4. For those in authority to have the wisdom to discharge their responsibilities and govern righteously according to God so that the church may go on in peace (1 Tim. 2:2).
  5. For the pandemic to be stopped, the Lord to guide all those working toward that end, and for Him to uphold all those who are rendering aid to the afflicted (Num. 16:46-48; 2 Sam. 24:25).
  6. For the white horse of the gospel to run and for God to lead men to repent and believe the gospel according to His desire that all men be saved (Rev. 6:1-2; 1 Tim. 2:4a).

Don't wait; don't moan about missing the first days. Have a new beginning with the Lord! Sign up at http://unceasinglypray.org, which suggests verses and prayer burdens for each day of April 1 to 21. English, Chinese, Korean, and Spanish are available on this site. Join more than 13,500 individuals and small groups in every inhabited time zone around the world in intercessory prayer.

Let us pray that the prayers of the saints in all the churches will be anointed by the Lord and pave the way for Him to carry out His economy in the midst of the current situation.

Prayer for Healthcare Professionals

We remind all the saints to pray for the healthcare professionals in our country, and for the more than 35 in the church in LA, some of whom are working close to very sick people, especially during these peak weeks of the COVID-19 outbreak. Pray for the Lord to uphold and protect all those who are rendering aid to the afflicted (Num. 16:46-48; 2 Sam. 24:25) and to protect their families as they return home from work each day.

Los Angeles Young People

This is the third week of the SCYP Spring Pursuit on "Being Watchful in Life and Faithful in Service." It has live sessions, pre-recorded messages, group times, and special fellowships for young people across SoCal. Please pray for all our YP in LA who are participating in this virtual conference.

The YP in LA are also gathering weekly for online fellowship via Zoom on Monday and Wednesdays. We ask all the saints and the parents to pray strongly for these gatherings that the young ones would be encouraged, supplied, and helped practically by them.

Ministry and Blending

Many conferences and blending times around the earth have been cancelled or replaced by online events. Pray for the blending and for the release and digestion of the ministry to continue strongly.

To help spread the ministry, LSM has reduced the monthly webcast subscription cost to $4.95 a month for April, May, and June. This special rate saves 50% off the regular subscription and ends on June 30. For $4.95 a month, subscribers are able to watch an unlimited number of videos from LSM Webcast's vast video collection of conferences and trainings. Current webcast subscribers do not need to do anything. Those who wish to subscribe, please register at http://www.lsmwebcast.com.
