Prayer, Week of June 14

Living a Life according to God's Heart and Will

"He then has said, 'Behold, I have come to do Your will.'" (Heb. 10:9)

"I exhort you therefore, brothers, through the compassions of God to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable service." (Rom. 12:1)

God's great will in His New Testament economy, God's good pleasure, the counsel of His will, and His purpose are to have a Body for the enlargement and expression of Christ, the embodiment of the processed Triune God.

For the church life, the life of the Body of Christ, to be realized, our entire being is needed; a presented body, a transformed soul, and a burning spirit are indispensable to a proper church life. We need to present our bodies as a living sacrifice for the church life. After presenting our body, we need to have our mind renewed. We must be burning in spirit that we may be stirred up and encouraged to go on in the church life in a positive way. (The Will of God, msg. 4, II, IV.B, B.1,2,3)

Please pray for all the saints to be in God's will and live a life in God's will by presenting their bodies, being renewed in their mind, and being burning in spirit.

"The Heavens Do Rule" (Dan. 4:26b)

"I, Nebuchadnezzar… blessed the Most High, and I praised and honored the ever-living One; for His dominion is an eternal dominion… He does according to His will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth." (Dan. 4:34-35)

The Lord is not only the Creator of the universe but also the Ruler of the entire world. There is the rule of the heavens on earth. Whatever happens in the world situation must be something of the Lord. When we see the many changes in today's world situation, we have to wake up. Our eyes need to be opened. We should exercise our spirit to say, "Lord, what do You mean in all these changes, and what concerns us in all these changes?" (The World Situation and the Direction of the Lord's Move, ch. 1)

Lord, show us what concerns us and what You are trying to do among us in our daily life, our contact with other saints, our gospelizing, and our meeting life.

Persevering in Prayer

We are happy to announce that http://beseeching.org is getting a major update to help the saints and churches in North America, especially those in the United States, to continue building up the prayer ministry of the church. It will be a completely new site to help the saints persevere in daily intercessory prayer, and continue on from the 60 days of global 24-hour prayer that ended in May. To that end, daily prayer burdens and hymns on prayer will be added to the website, along with corresponding verses.

Daily prayer burdens will be emailed to subscribers beginning June 15. The first 14 days will cover the recent Memorial Day conference on "A Timely Word concerning the World Situation and the Lord's Recovery." The prayer burdens from the previous version of the website will be located in the Pray tab under Special Burdens. You can also follow the Beseeching accounts on Facebook (beseeching.org) and Instagram (@beseeching.org_) to see the daily prayer burdens.

May all the saints in the Lord's recovery continue to persevere in prayer that He may gain His interests on the earth!

SoCal Chinese-speaking Gospel Meeting

The Chinese-speaking saints in Southern California will have their semiannual gospel meeting this Saturday, June 20, in two sessions: 5 to 6 pm and 7 to 8 pm. Zoom ID: 876 8095 5363.

Please ask the Lord:

  • to burden saints to pray and to invite their gospel friends;
  • for the release of the Spirit that many will receive the Lord; and
  • to cover all aspects of the meeting, that the meeting will be carried out smoothly and in one accord.

SSOT 2020

We are now in the second week of this year's Summer School of Truth, which is being carried out SoCal-wide via Zoom. Over 150 saints from LA are participating, including more than 80 young people. May the Lord use these three weeks from June 6 to 27 to encourage our YP and lead them to know the truth (John 8:32). Please continue to pray:

  • for the Lord to gain the hearts of the YP to pursue Him during these weeks;
  • for the serving ones to have a heart of love and wisdom to take care of the YP;
  • for the group times to be blessed with mutuality, openness, and building; and
  • for the Lord to blend the YP across LA and Southern California.

SoCal College Life Pursuit

The college students in Southern California are heading into the second two-week session of a summer program called Life Pursuit 2020. In this program, the students participate in online workshops to develop both a rich inner life with the Lord and meaningful relationships with others. Additionally, there is an option for students to join project teams, where they work on projects related to the Summer School of Truth or producing online content to reach unbelievers and seeking Christians on their campuses.

Please pray for our college students to:

  • present themselves for every workshop to hear the Lord's speaking;
  • develop their personal fellowship with the Lord and corporate enjoyment with companions;
  • be perfected and equipped to serve their generation.

North America College Training – registration extended

We believe that in the midst of the upheaval in the world situation, the Lord will speak a special word to all participants. Please pray that the Lord will call many students to not delay but sign up right away, and to be today's Nazarites, separated and consecrated unto the Lord, to meet His present need!

Prayer, Week of June 7

[View as PDF]

Prayer for God's Will to Be Done on Earth

"You then pray in this way: Our Father who is in the heavens...; Your kingdom come; Your will be done, as in heaven, so also on earth." (Matt. 6:9-10)

"And this is the boldness which we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us." (1 John 5:14)

The ministry of the church is to bring the will in heaven to earth. How does the church bring the will in heaven to earth? It is by prayer on earth. Prayer is not as small and insignificant as some may think. It is not something that is dispensable. Prayer is a work. Prayer is the church saying to God, "God, we want Your will." Prayer is the church knowing God's heart and opening its mouth to ask for what is in God's heart. If the church does not do this, it does not have much use on earth.

What then is the prayer ministry of the church? It is God telling the church what He wants to do and the church praying on earth what God wants to do. This prayer is not asking God to accomplish what we want Him to do but asking God to accomplish what He Himself wants to do. (CWWN, vol. 22, "The Prayer Ministry of the Church," p. 143, 147)

LA Gospel – Ministry and Good News

"I saw, and behold, a white horse, and he who sits on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went forth conquering and to conquer." (Rev. 6:2)

We need to pray with the full realization of God's view of human history by seeing that the gospel is speeded up and even maximized by war, famine, and death and by seeing that we need to gain God to the fullest extent to accomplish the goal of His divine economy. (Memorial Day Conference, msg. 1, V.B)

In line with this burden, the church has been presenting a weekly Lord's Day ministry and gospel time in English from 11:00 to 11:45 am through Zoom. The view is to warmly welcome friends and relatives, whether saved or not, as well as younger believers, to an approachable and applicable time of fellowship with singing, praying, and speaking. Recent topics have included choosing life, loving the Lord, and not losing heart amidst the current situation.

All saints are welcome to invite guests and accompany them to this time. The Zoom link is http://tinyurl.com/lachurchmeeting. Videos from the previous meetings may also be viewed and shared at any time at http://youtube.com/churchinlosangeles.

Lord, expand Your burden for the gospel in our hearts to multiply Your testimony in Los Angeles!

Semiannual Video Training – Jeremiah and Lamentations

The upcoming semiannual video training will be conducted as an online training. In LA it will be June 29 to July 7 for English, Chinese, and Korean, and June 29 to July 10 for Spanish. Messages will be scheduled for evenings and weekends.

The firm registration deadline is Saturday, June 13. Cost is $100 per person (no shared seating). Details are at http://tinyurl.com/summertrainingla.

May the Lord bring us all to the training to be infused with His word for our enjoyment, growth, prayer, and building together. May we all exercise to maintain a high training atmosphere in LA for the receiving of the Lord's up-to-date word. Pray for the speaking brothers that the burden of this training may be fully released.

Please pray that the Lord will call many students to sign up right away and to be today's Nazarites, separated and consecrated unto the Lord, to meet His need today! Prayer, Week of May 31

Prayer with an Excellent Spirit

"...I, Daniel, understood by means of the Scriptures the number of the years, which came as the word of Jehovah to Jeremiah the prophet, for the completion of the desolations of Jerusalem, that is, seventy years. So I set my face toward the Lord God to seek Him in prayer and supplications with fasting and sackcloth and ashes." (Dan. 9:2-3)

"Your kingdom come; Your will be done, as in heaven, so also on earth." (Matt. 6:10)

God reveals His heart's desire through the Scriptures. To participate in His desire we come to the Scriptures, read them, understand with a spirit of wisdom and revelation, and join ourselves to the Scriptures with prayer. Daniel took God's desire for the 70-year captivity (Dan. 9) as his own desire and echoed God's desire by praying with the words of the Scriptures.

Daniel was a man with an excellent spirit. He prayed with much calling on the Lord, simple words, and for God's interests rather than for his own (v. 19). Daniel prayed only for the nation of Israel; today, we pray for every nation on earth. Besides his spirit, a key to Daniel's prayer was having companions (2:17).

Lord, raise us up in persistent prayer to be overcomers like Daniel. Keep us praying for Your interests, according to Your word, with an excellent spirit, and in close fellowship with companions.

Lord, Bless the United States for Your Purpose

Since God has a purpose to accomplish with mankind on earth, He surely has the sovereign authority to manage the situation in human history; as an example, for the spreading of His recovery and for the final stage of His recovery—the building up of the Body as the preparation of the bride—God has sovereignly prepared, preserved, and blessed the United States. (Memorial Day Conference, msg. 1, I.A)

Lord, we ask You to continue Your blessing on the United States for the sake of Your divine history! Use the current rioting to save many people and to draw believers to seek You fully. Bless all the churches and particularly the church in Minneapolis in their gospel endeavors, relieve the saints' anxieties, and strengthen the migrating saints to rise up and come to Minneapolis for the church life and campus team (one of ten target cities for this summer, http://gtca.us).

LA Gospel – Under the Lord's Sovereignty

"This [Jesus] God has exalted to His right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins." (Acts 5:31)

God exalted the man Jesus...as the highest Leader, the Prince, the Ruler of the kings to rule over the world (Rev. 1: 5; 19:16), and the Savior to save God's chosen people. Leader is related to His authority, and Savior to His salvation. He rules sovereignly over the earth with His authority that the environment might be fit for God's chosen people to receive His salvation. (from Acts 5:31, footnote 2)

Gospel Meeting in Korean

On Friday, May 29, over 170 people attended our online Korean-speaking gospel meeting entitled "Zaccheus, Hurry and Come Down" based on Luke 19:1-6. At least 33 guests were unbelievers or believers who do not meet regularly. After some songs and testimonies, a brother spoke about the Lord's coming to us with unconditional love when we were dissatisfied, remorseful, and lonely. Everyone was led to pray and invited to more meetings. Please pray for these 33 guests to receive the Lord and be connected with saints. Lord gain more "Zaccheuses" and lead them into the church life!

Gospel Meeting in Spanish

On Saturday, May 30, around 60 people attended our online Spanish-speaking gospel meeting entitled "Why Does Christ Need to Fill Us? An Answer from the Word of God." The atmosphere was sweet, intimate, and loving. Through the Lord's mercy and the saints' prayer the Spirit was able to operate and lead some guests to repentance unto salvation. Please pray for the saints to follow up and for the new ones to be open for more fellowship and gatherings that the Lord may continue to guide them onward unto full salvation.

Sixth Grade Baptisms

This past school year, through much shepherding from parents and serving ones, 11 of our 15 sixth graders in the church in LA made a firm decision to be baptized and to enter into God's kingdom. On May 30 a Zoom meeting was held for the church to baptize these young ones. In close coordination with the serving ones, the parents led their children to be baptized into the name of the Triune God. Over 200 saints, relatives, and friends witnessed this joyful occasion. Hallelujah! Please pray:

  • that the sixth graders would quickly be connected with saints to usher them into the church life;
  • for all the members of the household of God to rise up afresh and be poor in spirit to seek the Lord's leading in caring for these dear ones;
  • that the Lord would give all the parents the wisdom and grace to continue cultivating a conducive home environment for these sixth graders to grow before God and man;
  • for continued shepherding of the remaining 4 students to result in their personal choice to be baptized.
Thousand Oaks Gospel Meeting in Chinese

On Saturday, May 30, 70 to 80 people, including some from Asia, attended an online gospel meeting. At least 20 new people were present and many prayed to receive the Lord.

The firm registration deadline is Saturday, June 13. Cost is $100 per person. Details are at http://tinyurl.com/summertrainingla. Lord, get us registered by the 13th.

May the Lord bring us all to the training to be infused with His word for our enjoyment, growth, prayer, and building together. May we all exercise to maintain a high training atmosphere in Los Angeles for the receiving of the Lord's up-to-date word. Pray for the speaking brothers that the burden of this semiannual training may be fully released.

European Parents' Conference

A Vision of the World Situation and the Lord's Recovery

"Jesus Christ, the faithful Witness, the Firstborn of the dead, and the Ruler of the kings of the earth." (Rev. 1:5a)

"Immediately I was in spirit; and behold, there was a throne set in heaven, and upon the throne there was One sitting." (Rev. 4:2)

"…Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so that He may open the scroll and its seven seals. And I saw in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures and in the midst of the elders a Lamb standing as having just been slain…" (Rev. 5:5-6)

The book of Revelation is a book of God's administration, unveiling the throne of God for the divine administration. Apparently, the throne is invisible and is not realized by man; actually, the throne is behind the scene ruling over everyone and everything. (Memorial Day Conference, msg. 2, I.C, C.2)

We need to see a spiritual vision of the throne of God as the center of God's administration throughout the universe and realize that the sovereign God has the full capacity to carry out what He wants according to the desire of His heart and according to His eternal economy. (Key Statement 2)

We need to be in our spirit so that we can be men on earth with God's heart, men to whom heaven can be opened to see the vision of God concerning the destiny of the world. (Msg. 1, I)

Let us pray for saints in the LA area and over the whole earth to answer the Lord's call in this conference to be His dispensational instrument, His overcomers, His prepared bride, to turn the age. Lord, keep us in spirit and give us more vision of Your desire, Your ruling, and Your move on earth!

Church in Los Angeles Joint Meeting

The whole church in LA—all halls, districts, and languages—will meet together at 10:00 am this Lord's Day, May 31. We will end around 11:45 am. There will be translation to Chinese, Korean, and Spanish. Specific Zoom information will be communicated later this week.

Please pray for a healthy attendance and good participation. Pray for the Lord to gain a brighter testimony and expression of Himself in this city. For this end pray that flow of life and shining of light prevail to refresh and infuse all the saints and to encourage them to pursue the Lord more in these days.

LA Gospel – The Horse Race Continues

"I saw, and behold, a white horse, and he who sits on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went forth conquering and to conquer." (Rev. 6:2)

The first four seals opened by the Lamb-God give us a vision of world history from Christ's ascension to the end of this age. There has been a four-horse race continuing… until Christ's return…. The gospel has been going forth with Christ to conquer all kinds of opposition and attack. We need to pray with the full realization of God's view of human history by seeing that the gospel is speeded up and even maximized by war, famine, and death. (Memorial Day Conference, msg 1, III, III.A.2; V.B)

This weekend, there will be three gospel meetings in LA area:

  1. Friday, May 29, 7:30 pm: LA and Santa Clarita Korean language; http://tinyurl.com/KoreanGospelMeeting or Zoom ID: 653 338 8897, password 1234.
  2. Saturday, May 30, 5:00 pm: LA Spanish language; http://tinyurl.com/familiaLA.
  3. Saturday, May 30, 7:30 pm: Thousand Oaks Chinese language; Zoom ID: 861 5860 4969, password 952358.

Please pray for many invitations and many responding to attend and to receive the Lord Jesus as Savior and life. Pray also for continued shepherding of new people who came to previous gospel meetings.

Summer School of Truth – Teachers' Training

There will be a Teachers' Training this Saturday, May 30 morning for all the parents, serving ones, college students and burdened saints that will serve in the upcoming Summer School of Truth. May the Lord bless the fellowship and coordination for His move among the young people in Southern California!

Sixth Grade Baptism

We have been praying for all 16 of the sixth graders in LA to receive the Lord, and most of them have. This Saturday, May 30, at 8pm, we will have a special online baptism meeting for them to be fully transferred into the kingdom of God! We hope that many saints can join to rejoice together with them. To join the baptism, please see the invitation at http://tinyurl.com/May30baptism. Please pray for:

  1. Each 6th grader to make a personal choice to believe and be baptized.
  2. A good coordination among parents and serving ones to care for these ones.
  3. Many relatives and friends to join this meeting.
  4. The enemy to be bound and for each 6th grader to be fully covered this week so that they can be baptized into the Triune God!

May the Lord give each one the assurance of His forgiveness of their sins and of their salvation. May each new brother and sister have a good start to their Christian life and church life, including a regular time with to read the Bible and a weekly time of being shepherded.

SoCal College Summer Pursuit

The first Southern California College Summer Pursuit will take place next month. This program, called Pursue Life 2020, is open to all current college students (including incoming freshmen and recent graduates) and aims to help them develop their personal times with the Lord, prayer in two's and three's, and heart to care for others. We also hope that many will increase their participation in the church life as well as be involved in serving their generation. Pursue Life 2020 is not meant to compete with the SSoT but rather to complement it and strengthen our college students to rise up to help serve our young people.

The registration deadline is Wednesday, May 27. The program consists of 2 two-week sessions (June 1 to 13 and 15 to 27); sign-up for both or either session at http://tinyurl.com/lifepursuit2020.

This video explains this program and encourages students to sign up: http://youtu.be/akQbXGz14Qg.

Gospel to All the Nations

The next Gospel to All the Nations conference will be on Saturday, May 30, at 1:00 pm PST. All the people of every nation are invited to join. Those of African origin are specifically encouraged to join and to invite their friends, relatives, and colleagues. Please pray for many to participate and be saved or be brought on in their Christian life. More details and registration are at http://www.gospeltoallthenations.com.

Germany, Switzerland, Austria

The annual German-speaking conference will be via Zoom from Friday, May 29 to Monday, June 1. Six meetings will use the Memorial Day Conference messages plus a seventh meeting for fellowship about the Lord's move in the German-speaking nations.

Meanwhile, the mass mailing of gospel tracts in Berlin is going on, but we do not know how many households have received it already. By May 19 we had approximately 30 positive responses; this is way too few, but we have no control on this matter. Please continue to pray that all 854,000 tracts would reach a household. Bind the enemy and release the positive responses to the church for His own interest!

Announcements

Showers of Blessing

"And I will make them...a blessing, and I will cause the showers to come down in their season; there will be showers of blessing." (Ezek. 34:26)

Through His shepherding in His recovery by life, the Lord brings us into the enjoyment of His blessing and causes us to become a source of blessing under the showers of blessing. May we all continue to enjoy the Lord's blessing, and then He will cause us to become a source of blessing to others so that they may be supplied. (Crystallization-study of Deuteronomy, msg. 12, III.E, E.1)

To that end, we hope that all the churches and all the saints will prepare for this upcoming time of ministry and sanctify these days for the hearing of faith among us everywhere. "Day by day…house to house, they partook of their food with exultation and simplicity of heart, praising God and having grace with all the people. And the Lord added together day by day those who were being saved." (Acts 2:46-47)

"Truly I say to you that if two of you are in harmony on earth concerning any matter for which they ask, it will be done for them from My Father who is in the heavens." (Matt. 18:19)

"To each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for what is profitable." (1 Cor. 12:7)

"Each one, as he has received a gift, ministering it among yourselves as good stewards of the varied grace of God." (1 Peter 4:10)

Pray for the saints to use the present circumstances to cultivate a church life that is more vital, more prevailing, more fruitful, and more according to the God-ordained way through the release of the organic function of every saint. (Unceasingly Pray, day 16)

LA Gospel

The spread of the gospel
"The word of the Lord was carried through the whole region." (Acts 13:49)
"From you the word of the Lord has sounded out." (1 Thes. 1:8)
Lord, in these days repeat in Los Angeles what you did in those two regions!

Choose Life!

"...I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse; therefore choose life that you and your seed may live, in loving Jehovah your God by listening to His voice and holding fast to Him; for He is your life and the length of your days..." (Deut. 30:19-20)

God uses two trees to speak to us in a parable. The tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil are a kind of parable. They show us that man has two different kinds of food and can live either by life or by the knowledge of good and evil, that is, the knowledge of right and wrong....Some Christians take the principle of right and wrong as the standard for their living, while other Christians take the principle of life as their standard for living. (Watchman Nee, Two Principles of Living, pp. 2-3)

May we be Christians who take the principle of life as our standard for living. May we be those who …discern and respond to matters (including the pandemic and related government actions) not according to right and wrong but according to life and death.

LA Gospel to All Nations

"I am debtor both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to wise and to foolish." (Rom. 1:14)

"If I preach the gospel, I have no boast, for necessity is laid upon me; for woe to me if I do not preach the gospel. If I do this of my own will, I have a reward; but if not of my own will, I am entrusted with a stewardship." (1 Cor. 9:16-17)

In recent weeks, the church held Chinese-speaking and English-speaking meetings to share the good news of Jesus Christ with our friends, relatives, and neighbors. Our Korean-speaking meeting will be May 29 and our Spanish-speaking meeting will be May 30 and sixth grade (below). Let us pray for:

  • much willingness to follow-up with those who attended the recent meetings and to nourish them;
  • abundant wisdom and grace to the saints preparing for the upcoming two meetings;
  • saints to rise up to pray for and invite their neighbors, friends, and family members; and
  • the Spirit to operate in the hearts of the invitees to release them to participate and to receive the Spirit's speaking in the meetings.

Campus Team Retreat

This week, from Monday to Thursday, campus full-timers from across the US and some other countries are meeting together for fellowship. Please pray that the Lord would:

  • blend all the workers together to do the one work on the campuses to build up His one Body;
  • guide them into His up-to-date direction during this unprecedented time; and
  • grant them the way to help the students rise up on each campus to take action for the Lord's move.

SoCal Sixth Grade Students

Now is a good time to be reminded that we do not rely only on the sixth grade conference for our children to be saved. We must rely on the Lord's timing, convicting, and calling of our children. This year, because the conference is canceled, it will depend, more than ever, upon the parents and vital groups in the churches to lead the 6th graders who are ready for salvation and to prepare them for their baptism.

A letter from SoCal Young People about our sixth graders is at https://churchinlosangeles.org/prayer. This letter discusses prayer, a definite and personal experience of salvation, baptism, and a good beginning of the Christian life. A 15-minute video for the parents and three simple gospel videos are at http://www.scyp.com/6th-grade.

A gospel time for LA sixth graders with their families and close friends will be May 6. Please pray for attendance by all, assurance to those who have already received the Lord, and a definite salvation for those who have not yet received the Lord.

Virtual European YP Conference

The conference subject is "Men Who Turn the Age." The first meeting is Saturday, May 16, 10:30 am to 12:30 pm California time. (Later dates are in the Announcements section below.) Lord, bless this conference with rich speaking, full participation, and a solid response by every young person!

Lord's Move to Asia

Pray that the Lord may have a way in the following countries, in which we are not conscious of anything of the recovery: Afghanistan, Iraq, Maldives, North Korea, Palestine, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Yemen.

Living the Church Life under the Government of God

"Looking away unto Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith." (Heb. 12:2a)

"And my God will fill your every need according to His riches, in glory, in Christ Jesus." (Phil. 4:19)

"But without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to Him, for he who comes forward to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." (Heb. 11:6)

God takes care of the needs of all those who are part of His expression. In New Testament terms, this means that Christ takes care of every member of His Body. In the church life we should love the Lord Jesus, love His Body, and take care of the needs of all the members.

Only by faith can we live the church life under the government of God. God wants His people to do whatever He requires not by self-effort but by faith. God's economy is in faith, and faith is the unique way for God to carry out His economy. The church is "the household of faith." The household of faith is composed of all who are sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. All the believers in Christ together constitute a universal household, the great family of God—a family that believes in God. (Crystallization-study of Deuteronomy, msg. 11, III.B.1-2, F.1-3.)

Being Sober unto Prayers

"Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." (Matt. 26:41)

First Peter 4:7 says, "But the end of all things has drawn near; therefore, be sober-minded and be sober unto prayers." All things on which the flesh rests will pass away, and the end of them, the apostle tells us here, has drawn near…. Therefore, we should be sober-minded and be sober unto prayers. Literally, to be sober-minded is to be of a sound mind; it is to have a mind of sobriety, able to understand things properly and thoroughly without being disturbed. Furthermore, to be sober unto prayers is to be sober to watch; hence, vigilant. This is to be on guard; hence, sober unto prayer. This equals the Lord's word, "Watch and pray" (Matt. 26:41; Luke 21:36). (Life-Study of 1 Peter, ch. 27)

"Persevere in prayer, watching in it with thanksgiving." (Col. 4:2)

Unceasingly Pray is encouraging a 30-day repeat. Let us continue praying at set times alone and with companions. Each day they are repeating the email from April with a burden, verses, and ministry about prayer. You can still sign up at http://unceasinglypray.org. There's no need to moan about missing prayer in past days. The Lord is always our new beginning!

LA Gospel – Speaking and Spreading through Visitation

More than 400 people attended our May 2 gospel meeting entitled "A New Normal: Some Good News from God's Word." We know of at least 11 who received the Lord during the meeting and 33 who want further contact. Thank You, Lord! May we follow Paul's example to care for these ones—"we were gentle in your midst, as a nursing mother would cherish her own children" (1 Thes. 2:7). May we also be like Ananias whom the Lord sent to visit Saul days after his salvation (Acts 9:10-12, 17).

If we preach the gospel on the Lord's Day and a hundred people sign up and express their willingness to receive the Lord, we have to follow up with a second step. We have to arrange for saints to visit them immediately. Within a week, we have to arrange for a hundred to two hundred brothers and sisters to visit them. We must not just invite people to come to the gospel meetings; we must send brothers to make personal calls to these ones. We have to surround them and gain them at any cost. The more gospel meetings we have, the more visitation work we need. If visitation falls behind, our gospel will fail miserably. The failure of the gospel mainly lies in the lack of visitation. (CWWN, Vol. 61: Matured Leadings in the Lord's Recovery (1), ch. 5)

May we pray for the spread of the gospel throughout LA, not only by big meetings. In these days of outward restriction, we can conveniently "visit" by phone, email, and video calls. Lord, motivate us and inspire us to speak the gospel by any means. Fill us with Your necessity for the gospel (1 Cor. 9:16). Lord, then bless LA with many new believers being nourished regularly with the milk of Your word.

Videos of the Saturday gospel meeting, as well as the following morning's fellowship, can be enjoyed and shared at http://youtube.com/churchinlosangeles.

Avoiding Division by Keeping the Oneness

"Being diligent to keep the oneness of the Spirit in the uniting bond of peace." (Eph. 4:3)

"That we may be no longer little children tossed by waves and carried about by every wind of teaching in the sleight of men…" (Eph. 4:14)

Divisions come out of different teachings, teachings other than God's economy....The different teachings of the dissenting ones are winds used by God's enemy to distract His people and carry them away from His economy. The dividing teachings are organized and systematized by Satan to cause serious error and thus damage the practical oneness of the Body life.

In the Lord's recovery we elevate Christ and Christ alone....In the church we enjoy Christ as the rich produce of the land. Our enjoyment of Christ in the presence of God becomes our worship, our church life, and even our Christian living, and we grow and mature on the ground of oneness. (Crystallization-study of Deuteronomy, msg. 10, II.D, D.4-5, III.E, E.3)

LA Gospel Meetings

"...Our Savior God, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the full knowledge of the truth." (1 Tim. 2:3-4)

We realize that the Lord sovereignly uses times of uncertainty, such as the current global pandemic, to open the hearts of many people whose lives have been disrupted. Now is the season when friends and families are most open to receive the gospel, and all saints are needed to seize this opportunity to share the gospel. This the Lord's greatest commission to the church.

Ask the Lord to give us a heart for the salvation of our of friends and relatives. The delight of our heart needs to be the salvation of men because this is the delight of God's heart. May we as the church truly be the testimony of Jesus among humanity in our city.

Last Friday, April 24, over 200 people attended our online Chinese-speaking gospel meeting on "Death and Life." There were at least 22 gospel friends and dormant saints. After the testimonies and message, a brother led everyone to sing, "Death cannot hold the resurrection life" (Hymns, #639). Hearts were touched and spirits were stirred up. When everyone was asked to call on the Lord's name loudly, many also responded by typing in the chat thread, "I will accept the Lord!" and "I am saved now!" Please continue to pray fervently for the new ones not only to be saved but also to be baptized and become remaining fruits.

This Saturday, May 2, from 4 to 5 pm, we will hold an online English-speaking church-wide gospel meeting. Everyone is encouraged to invite 1 or 2 "relatives and intimate friends" (Acts 10:24) as well as attend themselves. The topic, "A New Normal: Some Good News from God's Word," will be relevant to those who are curious about the Christian faith, new to the church, or looking to rekindle their relationship with God; this includes not only unbelievers, but also other believers and dormant ones who do not currently meet with us or do not meet regularly.

In order for the gospel to reach man, we need to cooperate with God by praying to bind Satan and loose the sinners. Pray by yourself, with your companions and small groups, and with the church. To facilitate prayer across the whole church, we are having a daily Zoom prayer time every day this week, Monday through Saturday from 12-12:30 pm. To guide us in our prayer, daily prayer burdens for this week have been posted at https://churchinlosangeles.org/gospel.

SoCal College Conference Follow-up

Thank you for your prayers! The Spring College Conference was well attended this year, both from our area and around the world. The general subject was "Doing the Will of God." Overflow in SoCal took place online in smaller clusters. Please continue to pray that our students would be those who do the will of God habitually and continually, come to the Lord as the One who does the Father's will, and live a meeting life to do the will of God. Pray also for our follow-up with LA students who signed up but are not regular among us.

Unceasingly Pray – Persevering in Prayer

"Rejoice in hope; endure in tribulation; persevere in prayer." (Rom. 12:12)

"Persevere in prayer, watching in it with thanksgiving." (Col. 4:2)

Unceasingly Pray, in its current format, will end this Thursday, April 30. That does not mean that we should relax our praying. Let us continue praying at set times alone and with companions. Reviewing the 30 days' burdens at http://unceasinglypray.org is one good way to guide our prayer to focus on the Lord's interests. This website, under the heading Ministry, lists many publications; reading one of these is also a help for our prayer.

Proper prayer is "with thanksgiving" as in Philippians 4:6, Colossians 4:2, and 1 Timothy 2:1.

Know That Man Lives by the Word of Jehovah

"Jehovah your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness in order to humble you…let you go hungry and fed you the manna…so that He might make you know that man lives not by bread alone, but that man lives by everything that proceeds out from the mouth of Jehovah." (Deut. 8:2-3)

God has allowed the whole earth to be in the wilderness. Lord,

  • cause the hunger of these days to lead many to open to Your word, to learn to eat it, and to live by it;
  • make us active in this through gospel tracts and speaking the gospel;
  • bless the use of free NTs that are in many homes in many nations.

Berlin, Germany

Please pray for the mailing of a new gospel tract to 854,000 households in Berlin. The mailing begins this week. Pray that the Lord will use this tract to give all the people in Berlin an opportunity to hear the gospel, to save many people in Berlin, and to gain many for the organic building up of the church.

Maintaining the Ground of Oneness in Spirit

"But to the place which Jehovah your God will choose out of all your tribes to put His name, to His habitation, shall you seek, and there shall you go." (Deut. 12:5)

"For also in one Spirit we were all baptized into one Body… and were all given to drink one Spirit." (1 Cor. 12:13)

"In whom you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God in spirit." (Eph. 2:22)

The fulfillment of the type in Deuteronomy 12 is not a matter of a geographical place but a matter of our spirit. In the New Testament God's habitation, His dwelling place, is particularly located in our mingled spirit, our human spirit regenerated and indwelt by the divine Spirit. In our meeting for the worship of God, we must exercise our spirit and do everything in our spirit.

Wherever we may be, we should be gathered into the Lord's name, in our spirit, and with the cross. If we all do this, we all will meet in the same place, although we meet in different localities; this one place is the ground of the unique oneness.

In order to be today's overcomers, we must maintain the ground of oneness, God's unique choice, without elevating anything other than Christ. In the Lord's recovery we elevate Christ and Christ alone. The way to be restored from desolation is to exalt Christ; the enjoyment of Christ with God on the ground of oneness can be maintained and preserved only when Christ is properly appreciated and exalted by God's people. (Crystallization-Study of Deuteronomy, msg. 9, I.D.2.b, I.C.3, I.D, V, C)

Unceasingly Pray Extended: 30 Days of Global Prayer

"Rejoice in hope; endure in tribulation; persevere in prayer." (Rom. 12:12)

"Persevere in prayer, watching in it with thanksgiving." (Col. 4:2)

"Always rejoice, unceasingly pray, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (1 Thes. 5:16-18)

We worship the Lord that He has stirred up so many of you to participate in the present burden for prayer. Never before have so many across the entire globe joined together in one accord to pray as one man in such a sustained way.

Our hope is that this month of prayer will not simply be a passing event but will greatly strengthen our personal prayer life and the corporate prayer ministry of the church. Prayer is our greatest work before God, and it is also the greatest threat to God's enemy…. Consistency and persistence in the face of obstacles are crucial to building up a prayer life and prayer ministry.

Today the Lord is seeking prayers of dispensational value, prayers that match God's heart; prayers for the advancement of God's move, the preparation of the bride, the producing of the overcomers, the defeat of God's enemy; prayers that change the age. The prayers of the saints and of the church are a significant factor in effecting the dispensational change from the present age to the kingdom age (Luke 18:1-8; Rev. 6:9-10; 8:3-5). (Excerpted from the April 16 co-workers' letter)

Brothers and sisters, there is still time to participate! The original 21 Days of Prayer has been extended through April 30. Sign-up and prayer burdens are at http://unceasinglypray.org.

Having a Heart for the Salvation of Sinners

"I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings be made on behalf of all men…. our Savior God desires all men to be saved and to come to the full knowledge of the truth." (1 Tim. 2:1, 3b-4)

We need to pray to have a real burden for the sinners' salvation. In 1 Timothy 2 Paul exhorts us to pray on behalf of all men because our Savior God desires all men to be saved. God's desire requires our prayer for it to be carried out. In Romans 10:1 Paul says concerning the Jews, "The good pleasure of my heart and my petition to God for them is for their salvation." Like Paul, the delight of our heart needs to be the salvation of men because this is the delight of God's heart (Luke 15:6-7, 9-10, 23-24). We need to pray to the Lord that His concern for sinners' salvation would be dispensed into us to become our burden. (WL, The Scriptural Way to Meet and to Serve for the Building Up of the Body of Christ, ch. 23)

LA Gospel Meeting in Chinese – April 24

On Friday, April 24, starting at 7:30 pm, we will have an online Chinese-speaking gospel meeting. All the saints are encouraged to pray for their contacts and acquaintances who understand Chinese and invite them to this gathering. The topic will be "Death and Life." Please pray for a clear release of the Lord's word and a good reception of this word unto salvation. Two ways to join are https://ucla.zoom.us/j/8397042086 or dial in: (669) 900-6833, Meeting ID: 839 704 2086.

LA Gospel Meeting in English – May 2

On Saturday, May 2, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm, we will have an English-language gospel meeting. This meeting is especially geared toward those who are curious about the Christian faith, new to the church, or looking to rekindle their relationship with God. This includes not only unbelievers, but also other believers and dormant ones who do not currently meet with us or do not meet regularly. All the saints are encouraged to pray fervently for this time and consider at least 1 or 2 people to invite. May the white horse run in a prevailing way! May the Lord gain a bright and shining testimony of Himself in LA!

Southern California College Conference

This weekend's college conference will be held online on April 23, 25 and 26 from 7:30 to 9:00 pm. The general subject is "Doing the Will of God." Please pray for the preparations leading up to the conference, both of the practical arrangements outwardly and the students' hearts inwardly. In addition to college-age saints, high school juniors and especially seniors are warmly invited. Pray that the Word would reach all the participants and encourage them during this time.

Memorial Day Conference

The Memorial Day conference will be LSM's first global online ministry conference. It is a great opportunity for many, many more saints to participate. The conference will consist of six messages from Friday night, May 22 to Monday morning, May 25. Details are in a letter at https://churchinlosangeles.org/members/prayer. Prayer, Week of April 12

[View as PDF]

Praying for God's Will to Be Done on Earth

"That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit into the inner man." (Eph. 3:16)

"Moreover, in like manner the Spirit also joins in to help us in our weakness, for we do not know for what we should pray as is fitting, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." (Rom. 8:26)

"If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you." (John 15:7)

God's intention is to accomplish His will through the believers' prayer in union with Him. God needs us to exercise our spirit with our resurrected will to pray according to His divine will for Christ to be manifested and enjoyed by us, for the Body life to be practiced by us, and for the Body of Christ to be built up through us.

A genuine man of prayer is one whose desires are fully blended into God's desires and whose thoughts are fully one with God's thoughts. He is a man in whom God's desires are imprinted, a man of revelation whose heart is a duplication of God's heart.

When we come to the Lord in prayer, we need to allow the Spirit to mingle our desires with His desires, lead our thoughts into His thoughts, and imprint His desires and thoughts into us. Then the prayers that we utter to God with His inward desires will be precious, weighty, and valuable to Him and will cause Satan to suffer loss. (ITERO, The Will of God, msg. 3, II, E, E.1-2)

Unceasingly Pray: 21 Days of Global Prayer

The highest and deepest prayers in the NT are for God's work in the saints and for His move on the earth (Phil. 1:9-11; Eph. 1:15-23; 3:14-21; Acts 4:24-31; Eph. 6:18-20; Col. 4:2-4). Intercessory prayer is a matter of co-laboring with Christ in His heavenly ministry.

Brothers Minoru Chen and Ron Kangas have recorded words of encouragement regarding the importance of prayer during these days. To watch the videos, visit http://unceasinglypray.org/updates.

Many matters require the church's prayer. Here are some items mentioned this past week:

  1. The dormant believers to be enlivened, the wayward Christians to be recovered, and the backslidden saints to be restored to the Lord and to the fellowship of the church.
  2. The scattered believers to see God's eternal purpose, to be stirred in their spirits to seek the deeper things of Christ, and to take the way of God's NT economy.
  3. All the churches to be in a prevailing one accord, glorifying our God and His Christ with one mouth to bring forth the reality of the one new man.
  4. The Lord to strengthen, uphold, and prosper the churches in every country in His recovery as the testimony of Jesus.
  5. The Lord to supply the co-workers and leading brothers and grant them wisdom to lead and shepherd His people onward.
  6. The saints to be preserved and sanctified, to be separated unto God from common and sinful things, and to not be conformed to this age but to be transformed that they may prove the will of God.

Let us pray that the prayers of the saints in all the churches will be anointed by the Lord and pave the way for Him to carry out His economy in the midst of the current situation. May these 21 days of prayer become a base for many saints to build up the habit of praying in twos and threes.

The Advancement of the Gospel

"Now I want you to know, brothers, that the things concerning me have turned out rather to the advancement of the gospel... and most of the brothers, being confident in the Lord because of my bonds, are more exceedingly bold to speak the word of God without fear." (Phil. 1:12, 14)

Let us petition the Lord that the outward things concerning us—in LA and around the earth—will turn to the advancement of the gospel and that we would be bold to speak the word of God without fear.

Los Angeles Young People

The SCYP Spring Pursuit will conclude this Saturday, April 18, but the Monday and Wednesday online meetings in LA will continue indefinitely. Please pray for all our YP in LA to be encouraged, supplied, and helped practically by these gatherings.

Southern California College Conference

The upcoming SoCal College Conference will be held online April 23, 25 and 26 at 7:30pm. Registration will be required but will be free of charge. Please pray for the preparations leading up to the conference, both of the practical arrangements outwardly and the students' hearts inwardly. Pray strongly that the Lord would release as many as possible to sign up in the midst of this unprecedented time.

Ministry and Blending, including Memorial Day Conference

As conferences around the world have been cancelled or replaced by online events, please pray for:

  • the blending and the release and digestion of the ministry to continue strongly;
  • all the saints to learn to use the telephone and internet for visiting and blending both near and far;
  • the saints serving at LSM in their planning for the Memorial Day online conference.

Bibles for America

As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing regulations, we are not able to package and ship out Bibles at the usual pace. Please pray that the serving ones would remain healthy and that their body, soul, and spirit would be be covered by the Lord. Please also pray that these Bibles can continue to go out in a timely way to all those who are eager to read God's Word. May the Lord operate during this difficult time to cause many hearts to turn to Him.

Germany

Please pray for the mass mailing of a new gospel tract to the households in every postal code in Berlin. Pray that the Lord will use this tract to give all the people in Berlin an opportunity to hear the gospel, to save many people in Berlin, and to gain some for the organic building up of the church.
